A few months ago, I was sent to the mental ward. Why? Well, this is how it happened.

My mom started barking at me for quitting my last job, even though she knew at my last job, I had to go to the psych unit for lockup because I broke down on the job and I couldn't keep it. Previous to that incident, I lost my father. I told my mom how she shouldn't be barking at me and my brother heard me telling her that.

He proceeded to beat me. I told him while he was beating me "A true witness shouldn't try something like this." He tried to choke me to death after I said that. After my mom broke it up, he decided to take me to his car and go job hunting with me.

He then proceeded to put me in the car, acted like nothing went wrong and even gave me words of encouragement.

I however, didn't share his veiwpoint, and I called the police and his elders on him the next day. My mom then proceeded to tell the police that I was experiencing mental breakdown from my dad's death (Probably just to save the name of "Jehovah".) and how I should be shipped into a psych ward

I was then put into the psych ward. As soon as I got in there, I saw a woman JW. I'll mention more about her later on. But anyways, I asked to be moved to another unit, because I didn't want to see anything JW around me. But then I saw a nurse that went to my old congregation, and I decided not to move units again, and just stick there.

When I got out, I heard from relatives "This is what you get when you go away from Jehovah."

Yeah, I almost get killed by 2 family members for going away from Jehovah, I get sent to the mental ward for going away from Jehovah. I couldn't even grieve normally at my dad's funeral because I went away from "Jehovah" and people were bombarding me with "You will see your dad again in the ressurection if you stop thinking in your apostate ways.".

Oh, and about the lady that was in the psych ward with me that was a JW? She thought she was having a demon posession and she had to be locked up.

Is there any way you can get away from these people (your family)?

Sorry about all you have been going through ColdRedRain. Sometimes life isn't fair and people use things against us even when they aren't telling the truth. Sounds like they were covering their bases. Hang in there..

    Holy cow.. Cold red rain..

Wow.. What an episode you are having..

Sounds like finding a job and getting an apartment away from these people would be helpful to your psyche and your physical body as well.

    You have been treated horribly.

    (((((HUGS))))) and lots of them..

    sincerely

Actually, when I was at the ward, they suggested for me to go on disability, and it's probably coming, so I actually do have a glimmer of hope in getting out of that place, so a source of income and a place to live is probably in my future.

You know what they say, Jehovah blesses people in dire straights, lol!

CRR -- this is unbelievable. Persecution from such "nice" people?

Actually I know they're a bunch of control freaks, especially your mom! Jeez. And they probably think this experience will somehow persuade you to "come back to da troof" if nothing else will. After all, they belong to an organization that believes it's a life-or-death matter as to whether you believe in them or not. That explains their overzealousness.

I called the police and his elders on him the next day.

I doubt the elders will see your side. After all, were their two eyewitnesses to what your brother did? If not, your brother will be viewed as the "righteous" one.

When I got out, I heard from relatives "This is what you get when you go away from Jehovah."

How threatening!! Sounds like if you don't listen to their version of Jehovah, they're going to beat you up and make your life miserable -- and then act like it's all natural.

I hope you can get far away from these people really soon.

How about telling your story to a magazine or some type of publication re: religious practices, policies, beliefs and doctrines? The world must become aware of this org that de-structs family like what you have described here. Just give a thought or two, okay?

I'll see ya back in yahoo babe. Keep your chin up.

(((((((((cold red rain)))))))) I think they need some serious help;what's happened to their conciences????? what a terrible way to treat you. They should be disgusted and ashamed of themselves.Have they always been like this? What did the elders say? It seems you only need to be a witness to be automatically believed.Your brother is a hypocrite.

In our cong. we had a teenager who died in a car crash..they said it was to be expected, and we should'nt mourn for him- just his mother...he had stopped going to meetings, after all...some are just so sick sweetheart.

I hope you get some help to move out and to find some peace. Having your family behave like that towards you must be heartbreaking. This is so sad; I wish I could help

"This is what you get when you go away from Jehovah."

What utter BS!!! Well I know for a fact that many active JWs have spent time in a psych ward. In fact I know someone close to me that did while they were a dub. Since leaving, their mental state has improved dramatically. Of course JWs don't want to hear that...they love to hear about people suffering when they leave the org...
