Children and the Troof

In relation to the "Six Year Old" post by CountryGuy, I wanted to write about Children and the Troof.

The JWs have absolutely nothing to offer a child. All they have is books. Young children don't like reading books in their spare time, or can barely read at all. Young children like to play. It's the thing they know how to do best. It also helps them wear off energy so they get tired for bed LOL!

Children are prevented from playing when they're forced to sit down and listen to either their parent reading to them from that puke-yellow book, or they're forced to sit at the Kingdom Hall for 2 hours and are told to listen to the speaker giving a boring talk.

I think the only thing I enjoyed from the Society was the Drama cassettes that you could order. Those things are ignored, and I think that's the only reason I enjoyed them. Noone forced me to sit down and listen to them. Noone told me I should buy them. I searched them out for myself.

I think the Society should begin manufacturing Action Figures. Imagine the commercials! "Ed Elder and his Spiritual family come with bookbags and everything seen here, some assembly required, Kingdom Hall and 4 door Sedan sold separately".

    Yes! Action figures!

I want the one of the Harlot riding the Scarlet Wild Beast, and Lot's wife as a pillar of salt.

i did. i've always been a bookworm geek. in fact the main thing i liked about the JW's was the abundance of literature (this was before i could see that it was all a load of bull, of course). seriously.

    You sure about that? LoL

    <------ a bookworm for thirty-one years. And I'm (only?) thirty-four! heh.

In the misty mists of my memory, I recall JW youth playing LIVE music at the kingdom hall. And there was this thing called "intermission", why the heck did they get rid of that? sheesh.

Okay, I stand corrected on the book reading thing. I've never been much of a book worm, probably because of the pink Great Teacher book that I hated so much.

    That would've been cool!

They got rid of intermission? Losers.

This is what happens when old men with no kids think they know every damned thing.

In actuality, they didn't get rid of intermission. It's been replaced by a cassette recording of a piano playing a kingdom melody.

eh fortunately those books taught me to read at an early age...which led to Dr. No then to Robert Heinlein then to Terry Brooks to Playboy...etc...eheh Thanks Watchtower!

I agree. My daughter went to vacation bible school last summer and had a blast. The Theme was the tabernacle, and at 6 years old she knows more about the tabernacle than most JW adults. I actually learned from HER things I didn't know. But they learn through doing and playing: dramas, arts/crafts, music, dance, games, etc.

She would go crazy if she had to sit for a wt study! And she probably knows more about the bible than the WT study conductor

Hey - what about computer games? The WT society could release a computer version of "house-to-house" where the main character has to aim/fire WT/Awakes into houses, outrun dogs, maybe even leap over fence gates, etc.

If he doesn't make enough points he gets booted out of the game and is struck down by lightning.
