    G'day all,

As you all know, (well you do, don't you?) the Sydney BBQ will be held NEXT SUNDAY, May 27th.

Some may appreciate some instruction in the Aussie language, so each day look here for a lesson in strine (that's Australian language).

    1. At the BBQ, if someone asks you: "Wanna cuppa?" they mean "Would you care for some tea?"

    Simple, eh?

    2. Now, if someone says to you this week: "Wanna come to our piss-up?" they mean: "You are invited to our party".

    Get it?

Tomorrow's lesson will include preparing for the BBQ.

    Stay tuned. Watch this space.

Igf anyone wants more details (and who wouldn't?) of where the BBQ is, please e-mail [email protected]

    Cheers,

    Ozzie

Old Tom said "free beer" and "bring a plate" why didn't he just say "bring a mug and a plate?"

Free beer sounds great ... I'm dry as a pommies bath towel ... I'll be there .. no wuck'n furries ... wouldn't miss it for quids ... it'll be grouse ... no butts about it .. can we wear thongs? (let's hope the southerly buster holds off)

uncle, 'three sheets to the wind' and hitt'n the bottle..

y'all are so cute with your language, thought I'd join in - in a way.

The broad Australian accent is a legitimate form of speech and should not be stigmatized as a speech defect needing correction. John Ingram

Australia is the only country in the world where the word "academic" is regularly used as a term of abuse.Leonie Kramer

And, so you know I'm impartial with my puns -

The kids from fifteen countries took math and science tests. The USA came fourteenth, behind Slovenia, which has been a country only since last Tuesday. Bill Maher

Of course, if one had enough money to go to America, one wouldn't go. Oscar Wilde

I'm so lost without my Cracker Jacks de-coder ring. You aussies and your wacky speech!

Fortunately, we all speak the universal language. Beer. I wish I could attend your gala. Knock one back for me, will ya?

It may be that your sole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

You didn't tell them about the "snags" and "thongs" and "stubbies" and "bombers" and the "great Ozzie wave" .... they do need to learn about those things before they turn up .....

    Unc,

How long do you think it would take me to become "true blue?" Could I possibly make that rank before they tar, feather and then execute me?

Someone mentioned the universal language of Beer. In Queensland they have XXXX do you know why? They
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
. didn't know how to spell beer.

THEY are a breed on their own, the "bananabenders'

    OlderTom, no offence intended.
