Mrs Helen Clark: To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what plans he has to review the law concerning reporting allegations and suspicions of child abuse

    [110358]

    Mr. Hilary Benn:

"Working Together to Safeguard Children", the Government's child protection guidance, sets out how all agencies and professionals should work together to promote children's welfare and protect them from abuse and neglect. It is intended to provide a national framework within which agencies and professionals at local level - individually and jointly - draw up and agree upon their more detailed ways of working together.

The Protection of Children Guidance, produced for agencies, voluntary organisations etc. to accompany the Criminal Justice and Court Services Act 2000, makes it clear that in any case of suspected child abuse the police must always be contacted immediately

The suggestion that there should be a statutory obligation to report allegations or suspicions of child abuse is being considered in the light of the experience of other countries that have introduced mandatory reporting schemes.

    Mrs. Helen Clark:

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what research he has commissioned into the potential impact of making compulsory the reporting of (a) allegations and (b) suspicions of child abuse by persons in positions of authority

    Mr Hilary Benn:

The government is considering the suggestion that there should be a statutory obligation to report allegations or suspicions of child abuse. In doing so, we will take into account the experience of other countries that have introduced mandatory reporting schemes. It is too early in our consideration to be able to report on our findings.

    Nice one, Dansk.

If I read it right then the UK does not have statutory reporting of any allegation of child abuse. Thank you for bringing it to their attention

Lets hope that Social Services could cope effectively with it !

So if Jehovah's Witnesses constitute an Pedophile's Paradise, then the United Kingdom is Paradise Headquarters.

Francois, the two MPs mentioned above are aware of the paedophile problem within JW ranks and have been of immense help. I'm involved with a campaign group outside of this forum as well as the one inside. We shall not let the MPs forget about this problem. It will not be allowed to go away. Early days, but significant headway is being made.

Typical political answer, "The government is considering the suggestion..." Go and steal a candy bar from a store and see have fast justice will be at your doorstep.

    Dansk,

I have some correspondence from Hilary Benn which you may find of interest.

Immediately after the Panorama episode which dealt with the Jehovah’s Witness problem with paedophiles I contacted my local MP, Patricia Hewitt, to voice my concerns.

It appears that she forwarded my concerns to the Parliamentary Under Secretary Of State, Hilary Benn MP.

This is a copy of the letter she received back, which she forwarded to me.

I have blanked out my name to protect my identity.

Thanks for this dmouse. Could you please send me the entire letter as a Word attachment? I'd like a copy and, with your permission, to pass to my colleagues in the off-list campaign team (see your pm). A couple of them are working very hard on the paedophile issue and letters such as yours could come in very useful.

    Thanks,

    Exactly.

Guest, Iam sure you heard BUSH and ASHCROFT when BUSH signed the Amber Alert 'bill'. What a crock o' cow turds and bull balls! I mean these two had me seething with the Krap Koming out of their foul mouths. I was livid to say the least.

If these two truly and sincerely seriously CARED DEEPLY for each American Child, as they PRO-CLAIM, they would be answering all those 'serious, deeply concerned' emails 'we' pump out weekly. 'They' and the insane media care NOT about which 'they' claim. It is painfully evident by the lack of exposure 'they' themselves could, would and SHOULD be Alerting! ALL HUMAN BEINGS ON THE FACE OF 'THEIR' EARTH! Yet...

We 'see' nothing of this magnitude. Why do you suppose this is? Why aren't 'they' doing 'their' part in Awakening! 'their' fellow humans, to the dangers of this 'snare and rackett'?

'Lettuce' ponder the deep whys of 'their' motives and ultimately 'their' actions. Yet, do not dare ponder these outloud today. As we are now subject to being monitored for 'national security' (reasons).

It's always good to 'see' you posting my friend. Take good care.

sKally, might be getting a new guilt (comforter) for my brass and white iron bed for mom's day...klass
