Well, I put up a valiant struggle, but Katie finally dragged me onto the plane on our way to Las Vegas for our wedding. I've never been to Vegas, so I followed Katie's lead (already a good hubbie, eh? LOL) We walked into the terminal, and BOOM! there were like 100 slot machines, flashing, whooping, sirens...a real sensory overload. Whoopie!
We got to our hotel (the Flamingo), and as we walked into our room we saw the message light flashing on the phone. "Who could that be?" we said, "Nobody even knows yet that we're here!?" It was room service, said they had something for us, would we be in the room for the next hour? No, we had to drive over to the courthouse to get our marriage license, so we told them to hold on to it.
We parked, and as we headed for the courthouse entrance, a fellow came over with a 3-ring binder in hand..."Have you picked out a chapel yet?" (There were like 6 or 7 other guys lined up on the front steps, like a "chapel"-cab service hehe). We already had one picked out, so he moved on to the next vict...er...customer. The courthouse was really set up for wedding license production. "Line up here, fill out this form there, stand in line over yonder, fork over $50 (cash only, thank you, this town only uses cash), and out the door...NEXT!"
So, we got back to our room, and room service brought us a wonderful gift basket from joy2bfree and jst2laws! Now, how the heck did THEY know where we were staying? (Never underestimate the power of a woman on the prowl for information, eh? ) Thank you, J & J, you made our hearts melt.
Well, next morning we had a couple hours to kill, so we "hit the strip."
Satan tries to suck some nickles out of our pockets, but Katie wins!
Not to be outdone, Craig wins too.
But, HEY!!! We're running late! Back to the hotel, change, and on the road to the chapel. We get there, me in my 1st-time-ever-wore-one tux, and beeeeaaaaaaauuuutiful Katie. And as we walk up to the chapel (no, we didn't do the $29 drive-thru special ) we have some totally unexpected visitors...Katie's 2 daughters, 1 of her sons-in-law, and 2 grandkids are there!!! (Katie starts to cry...sheesh, women). Maddy (my new grand-daughter) becomes our flowergirl. Jared (my new 2-yr-old grandson) is too busy looking for pine cones to throw up in the air, so we rule him out as the ring-bearer. LOL
I forks over the cash to the minister (cash only, please, this town runs on cash), he does the deed, and VIOLA! Meet Mr. and Mrs. Craig Mills (or, as Valis might say, Mrs. and Mrs. Katie Mills )
