Just found out yesterday, by way of the grapevine, that my jw husband's inheritance from his parents, is going to the WTS. I had been trying to tell my husband that the wts is doing this now, and he did not believe me. And would u believe it, we heard yesterday, from his his nephew, that it is so, they are not leaving anything to their kids, all to the WTS.

they really are the evil slave.

    This is really really disgusting.

I know my parents' will was drawn up years ago, and they specified that their assets would go to my siblings and myself. However, that may have changed over the last several years.

While it would be more of an annoyance as far as I'm concerned regarding my situation, I completely understand how this is going to hurt people, in very tangible ways.

By the way, didn't Jesus condemn people who refused to take care of their elderly parents by saying their wealth was korban "a gift dedicated to God"? How is it any different for elderly parents to offer everything they have to the WTS as "a gift dedicated to God" when it could actually help their own flesh and blood more?

It's really true what I said before:

Everything written by the WTS boils down to this: Give us your money. Give us your time, using it to find people who will give us their money. Then give us more money and more time. Be prepared to kill yourself when we say so.

When my sister DA'd herself almost 20 years ago (and I was still a fast-running JW), my parents said they hadn't cut her off from the inheritance.

Like Scully, I now wonder. What are my parents up to? They've said nothing. And I really don't want to upset the applecart by asking, or appear to be greedy.

So I will just plan for the future AS IF my parents will donate my entire inheritance to the WTS. Anything they will to me (assuming Armageddon doesn't come first !!!! ) I will accept as "icing on the cake". Maybe they're still waiting for me to "come back into the fold". No amount of money could make me do that.

    I second that.

That about sums up the WTS.

    Wednesday,

That's awful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't agree with this theory of the WT at all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Granted money is needed to support having meetings, etc., I never contribute more than I should. I make my calculations based on the number of people that attend these meetings and just contribute my share provided everyone else give their share as well. And when they do the reading of the financial affairs, if we're short, I don't feel the least bit guilty.

And this crap of giving extra contributions to circuit/district overseers/bethelites/missionaries is non-existant with me! Shoot, they have all expenses covered as it is: Even a brand spanking new vehicle every year and great health insurance and the best housing possible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I consider those who pour more money into these people's pockets plain 'men worshippers'. And believe me, there are so many of those within the WT!

Needless to say, Wednesday, I'm sorry this is happening in your case.

    Take care!

this has done more than anything i could have ever said to make my hubby question the WTS. When the time comes and they do indeed carry through with their threat to will it all to the wTs, we may ask a lawyer if it is legal,or if we can fight it. I guess i should thank them, they being jws all in good standing , bc this little gesture has really given my jw hubby a moment to pause.

    Skeptically Yours,

The WTBTS reports an income of 951million dollars a year. That's almost a billion per annum. Have you, in your entire career as a JW, ever heard of them giving, say, an old sister, alone and in poverty even ONE dollar?

    Me neither.

No francois, i have never heard or seen the wts help anyone financially. That is for their family to do. supposedy, if one was a widow, without children, they should help her, but i bet they do not.

this is what i call an all time low, taking money from rightful heirs b/c the elderly are brainwashed . It's a nice little "get even" thing.

I am so sorry Wednesday. Fortunately my JW father in law only gave $10,000 to WTS and not everything he had. It's kind like that money is just flushed down the toilet for all the good it will do.
