We have been lurking here for many months. The many horrific and sad experiences many have endured in the name of the Watchtower religion saddens us and sickens us. We are ashamed to have ever been taken in by the lies and deceptions told to us by the WTBS. In the beginning of our journey to the real truth, we went through stages of shock, depression, and guilt for giving our lives away all in the name of, not Jehovah God, but in the name of the "Watchtower Almighty Dollar". The wasted time, effort, and our happiness together with our family was sacrificed for an organization that will throw you out without a thought. We post this together as husband and wife because our journey out has begun as a couple. Our hearts ache for all those who have a spouse still in the clutches of such a mean-spirited, and yes, criminal organization. It is a crime on humanity to insist that in the name of God one must hurt others to protect an organization. To insist on their members to shun family members and friends, the Watchtower Organization has much to answer for. We know for a fact that many young people in our own area are feeling that pull of the WTBS to try to conform to rules and regulations that have nothing to do with the Bible or God. Our prayer is that the WTBS will lose the majority of the good decent young people and will be left with only the hard-line old farts and will fade into the lake of fire never to return. We want to thank the many posters here on this forum who have helped us come to our current free state of mind. Amazing and Jst2laws have been very helpful in our journey out. We want to thank them and the many others who post here. Our family is still not totally free, but the hope is still there. Our son has been there for us from the beginning. Here's to our children who can teach their parents a thing or two about ourselves. Our thoughts are with all those who cannot share in our joy. And, we have a message out there for all the lurkers on this forum, continue your quest for the "real truth" about the Watchtower Organization and its many unbiblical rules and regulations. Living a lie is not living at all. And to continue to preach a lie to others makes us just as guilty as the liars themselves. Thank you Simon for this great forum. We have spent many hours digesting the informative posts here and will continue to do so in the future.

    Welcome Shakitas~I echo your sentiment.

It was my children also that made me step back and take a look at all of the pain that our family was feeling.I, too, appreciate the work of Simon and all of the others on this board who bare their souls so others can know the real truth.

I continue to have faith in the young. I was recently thinking about a statement made at the last convention I attended. The point was made that a large number of youth are leaving the organization.Of course, in WT style, the blame was placed on the parents who weren't getting with the "theocratic program" of constant WT drill.Funny, I know of several cases where the children of very "theocratic" families defected.Young people are a lot more insightful than most people give them credit for.

Shakita, welcome and all I can say about your post is, AMEN!

To Cicatrix, yeah blame the parents. Who do they blame for ignoring the pedophilia problem, the influence of the world?

    Cicatrix:

In our former congregation there have been scores of young people that have left the JW's. We can think of at least over 20 young ones that have left. Some never got baptized, some were disfellowshipped, and some just silently faded away. The irony is that the spiritual paradise that the WT says exists amongst its members is a lie. In our congregation, teenagers that didn't have sex before marriage were a rarity. There is no difference between the WT youth and the youth of other churches. Recently a young elder was sent to help at a congregation where the youngest elder was in his sixties. Why? It's obvious. The young are leaving the JW's in droves and so they are having trouble filling slots for the elders and ministerial servants.

Thanks for your reply. I had read your story when I was first beginning my investigation as to whether or not what I was learning about the Wt was true. I read the transcript of your judicial hearing and I was shocked. The way that they railroaded you was eye opening. Seeing behind the scenes began to convince me that all was not right in JW land. I don't know how I would have reacted if a brother had made a play for my wife. I would have been furious. Of course, now, in retrospect, I can see what a dishonest organization this is. All one has to do to stay a member in good standing is to kiss Watchtower booty and regardless of ones 'crime' it is likely that they would not be df'ed. When I finally read Crisis of Conscience and In Search of Christian Freedom by Ray Franz these books were the final nail in the coffin for my having any more association with this religion based on lies. Thanks again for your welcome. Mrs. Shakita also says hi and thanks you also.

    Shakita,

You are very welcome here. I can tell by your posts that you are a genuiene person, seeking answers. The fact that you have studied this site so intently verifies that. And your eyes have been opened to so much. Things that even now, the JW's will say is "fabrication and lies" by apostates. Their labeling of any outsiders is supposed to put fear into the minds of the JW, and keep them in place and controllable. How sad. How unloving.

It is pretty sad, when something we once held so dear turns out to be corrupt. And, that is exactly what has happened. It's like finding out your mate has cheated on you, after many years of marriage. The commitment is broken. The pain and grief is substantial. Yet, you have to make a decision based on facts and emotions. You have to weigh everything.

Things have been covered up and covered over for a very long time, and now the secrets of a "secret society" will be made known. Many people will be hurt and disallustioned. It will be like their very foundation is shifting and collapsing.

We really need to do everything we can to help those who are still stuck in the JW mindset. They need to begin to think for themselves and regard their opinions as valid. Right now they need to seek balance, and find supportive groups and build a good support group for the "exit". They need to get strong, physically and mentally, for the road ahead will not be an easy one.

It's so obvious that our poor dear friends and family are "trapped". When they say "where would we go?", it breaks my heart. And it makes me angry. They do not see past the protected little society they belong too. For some, it's been their life line. Losing self is never good. Never.

Most everyone here on this forum have risen above being disassociated and disfellowshipped and all the crap that goes with it. We help each other. It has been such a blessing for me to find this outlet after so many, many years of trying to cope by myself.

    (((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))

    Love and Light,

    Sentinel/Karen
