Cars for Service

Do you remember how many people would buy a car, with service in mind? I remember people talking about how not to buy a 2 door, because it is not as good for going out in service. People would be looked down upon big time if they bought a sporty or compact car. Vans were really good, then many people could get into that for service. What a theocratic loving brother or sister that was.

What made me want to throw up was when those who "acted" righteous, and would go and buy these types of cars, but acted otherwise in real life. I knew this one brother from work, and I knew what unethical business practices he and his company used. I had not gone to the meetings in quite a while at this point, but I clearly knew who he was. I saw him and his family in the parking lot at a mall, and his plate on the van said something to the effect of "for service". Coming from this guy, it made me want to hurl.

    Any good stories??

CAN I JUST TELL YOU HOW MUCH OF AN AVERSION I HAVE TO "VANS". I CAN STILL UNFONDLY REMEMBER CLIMBING IN AND OUT OF THEM FOR SERVICE AND FEELING LIKE I WAS IN A "CLOWN CAR" AS WE UNLOADED AT THE ASSEMBLIES OR SOMETHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OH YA AND I ALWAYS HAD MY"PIONEER CAR" OR SHOULD I SAY "4 DOOR SHIT-BOX ON WHEELS", YA JEHOVAH'S SPIRIT MUST HAVE KEPT SOME OF THOSE CARS GOING. IT'S A PLEASURE TO NOT THINK IN TERMS OF "THEOCRATIC DUTIES" WHEN PICKING A CAR THESE DAYS TO DRIVE.

    IT'S CALLED

    FREEDOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yea, I got tired of the brothers and sisters mooching rides off me, so I decided to get a truck. That held them off for a little while, then they wanted me to move things for them. Finally, in my politically correct term I told them to SCREW.

I knew some who bought vans so they could act like a big shot and take a group out and then there were some who were pioneers and they bought trucks so no one could pile their @$$e$ in their car.

I don't believe it!!! I was going to start a thread about things that IRKED me. This was one of the things on my list...LOL. I remember being counseled everytime the Circuit Overseer came about having a two door car. I always bought large luxury two doors, Buick LaSabre, Olds Delta 88,Chevy Impala...etc.

When we met for service they would always ask who would drive. I always said...."I will"...They said..." You have the two door right?"...Well, we usually did not get to drive. Instead we had to go out into the parking lot and cram into a four door compact car that slammed everyone in like sardines..How comfy!!!

Another thing that Irked me was when Our Circuit Overseer came and got into our car, the first thing he did was turn on the radio to see what station we listened too...BIG lecture on how bad Rock was...AARRGGHH!!!!....More than one CO did this...must be on their list for things to do...LOL.

When I was a pioneer, I had a car with service in mind: getting to an from the territory as quickly as possible! It was a red-and-white 1959 Corvette with a 435 hp, fuel injected engine. It was jacked so far up in back that it looked like it was going downhill when it was going uphill. Twelve inch slicks in back and five leafs on each spring, plus air shocks, headers and custom ignition. Yep. I could get to the territory first every single time! It turned 12.20's in the quarter mile and I was at the drag strip every Sunday after service and before the meeting!

I didn't bring it to the KH when the CO came around, though. Back in late 1960's and early 1970's things were a little easier on little dubbies, but even then, COs were still assholes.

I know of 1 pioneer sister that has for the last 20 yrs. only bought 2 door cars, so that she can be independent and meet the group and leave the group when she wants.....she's been regular pioneering since the 60's.

Oh ya! I well remember as a young teen, of the bigger dub brothers having vets, mercedes, porsches, triumps, and other sporty cars. They would cruise southern cal. beaches with their shades on and enjoying the worldly fleshly scenery and makeing lovely comments. Some even gave rides.......EEEEEEEHAAAAAAW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

True enough. A few years back I bought a minivan and the only thought in my mind was how good it would be for service. Now I know better!
