The Watchtower Society often tells of how important the name "Jehovah" is because it is used about 7,000 times in the Hebrew Scriptures. There is some credibility to their logic as it suggests where priorities are. Using this approach, let's examine their "priorities" with respect to APOSTATES vs PEDOPHILES:

In all WTS publications from 1950 through 1999 --- a total of 50 YEARS inclusively ( used in ALL books, Watchtower and Awake! magazines, KM's, Brochures, Insight Volumes, etc.) here are the statistics from their own CD:

Pedophile: Used a total of 27 times (4 of those instances in The Watchtower, their prime publication.)

Molester: Used a total of 34 times (8 of those mentioned in The Watchtower)

Topic Total: 61 instances where these words were used.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Apostate: Used a total of 949 times (623 of those in The Watchtower)

Apostasy: Used a total of 973 times (507 of those in The Watchtower)

Topic Total: 1,922 instances where these words were used

Clearly, as a matter of topic choice and terms used in their material, Apostates and Apostasy is of far greater concern to the Watchtower Society than the topic of child molestation. The ratio between 61 and 1,922 is 31 times greater that the Watchtower Society will choose to discuss Apostates and Apostasy. Just a thought.

Nice comparison Amazing. Me thinks we scare them more than their fellow molesters..no, no, we intimidate them and their Molesterhood. And most of all, they cannot control us.

    Interesting ...

I wonder how many times things like 'Watchtower' and 'Governing body' are mentioned as the most important subject to them is surely themselves ...

    Amazing

Hi Simon. YOU ARE SPOT ON !!! Absolutely brilliant !!! Here's the answer you have longed for ...

Watchtower: Used 14,009 times in all WTS publications during 50 years (including title banners)

Governing Body: Used 2,894 times in all publications during 50 years.

Organization: Used 15,721 times in all publications during 50 years.

Jehovah's Witnesses: Used 72,714 times in all publications during 50 years.

I love it, for the Society is hundreds of times more likely to talk about themselves than even Apostates and thousands of times more likely to talk about themselves than pedophiles and molesters !!!.

I would be inclined to believe that any religious organization's priority is not commentary on child abuse hence your comparrison is not really relevant imo.

It should be a given that any organization will do their best to ensure the safety of all who are part of it. Any organization that puts the survival of the organization over the safety and security of the people that make up that organization is slitting it's own throat in today's society.

Had the 61 instances that the words "molester" and "pedophile" been used effectively in truly promoting an atmosphere of safety for children - even at a personal cost to the organization itself - those 61 instances could have been sufficient.

Comparing the occurance of words related to child abuse and words related to apostasy in WT publications is really apples to oranges imo. That would be like saying because an organization like General Motors uses the word "car" more frequently than "molester" in their publications that they don't care at all about child safety.

Hi Pathofthorns: Me thinks you are taking this way too seriously, looking too deep for too much.

I would be inclined to believe that any religious organization's priority is not commentary on child abuse hence your comparrison is not really relevant imo.

It is the Watchtower's own logic with the use of the name "Jehovah" about 7,000 times in the Bible that they claim means it is imp[ortant because of its frequency. I did suggest that there is some credibility to this logic, but this post is more intended to show where they focus their attention for a point of trivia.

Another intersting "stat" that I looked up once before...

They have only talked about Luke 21:8 ONCE in the past 50 (or so) years (and that was in the 50s).... not much of a "Bible Student" if you can conveniently skip verses like that...(Especially considering that those were Christ's specific words of warning to the followers)...

    What fun..

    Amazing,

Could you check how many times "brain dead" is used in the WT publications?

Whatever the number is, it ain't enough.

    How ya feeling these days?

Your statistics are proof of nothing. Using this methodology you could make a very good case that "the" is one of the WTs highest priorities, right up there with "a" and "and'.

You really need to stay away from the mathematical stuff Amazing, you clearly don't understand it.
