WT Paranoia Over Apostates

While reading another thread on Apostates, I did a quick search on the word Apostate on the WT CD. These people are really paranoid about us!

    *** it-1 127 Apostasy ***
While still making profession of faith in God’s Word, apostates may forsake his service by treating lightly the preaching and teaching work that he assigned to followers of Jesus Christ. (Lu 6:46; Mt 24:14; 28:19, 20) They may also claim to serve God but reject his representatives, his visible organization, and then turn to ‘beating’ their former associates to hinder their work. (Jude 8, 11; Nu 16:19-21; Mt 24:45-51) Apostates often seek to make others their followers. (Ac 20:30; 2Pe 2:1, 3) Such ones willfully abandoning the Christian congregation thereby become part of the “antichrist.” (1Jo 2:18, 19) As with the apostate Israelites, destruction is likewise foretold for apostates from the Christian congregation.
By what I read in the Insight Book, it appears that "weak ones" and "inactive ones" are the true Apsotates.

*** w98 1/1 10-11 Do Not Give Up in the Race for Life! ***
Apostates have affected the spiritual balance of a few who listen to their poisonous propaganda.

    *** w98 1/15 27-8 Strengthening Our Faith in God's Word ***
The speaker said: “At times, the news media as well as the authorities are duped by clergymen and apostates into pinning false labels on us, misrepresenting our Christian beliefs and way of life. . . . Will we allow those who are blinded by Satan to intimidate and dishearten us and make us feel ashamed of the good news? Will we permit lies about the truth to affect our regular meeting attendance and our preaching activity? Or will we stand fast and be courageous and more determined than ever to continue declaring the truth about Jehovah and his Kingdom?”

*** w98 5/1 21 Judgment Executed in the Low Plain of Decision ***
Fulfilling this prophecy in a remarkable way, apostates are actively sowing lies and propaganda in many lands today, even conniving with some in positions of authority among the nations. Where appropriate, Jehovah’s Witnesses have responded, as described at Philippians 1:7, by ‘defending and legally establishing the good news.’

    *** w97 8/1 12 Serving Loyally With Jehovah's Organization ***
Recently, “the faithful and discreet slave” has helped us to refine our understanding of the term “generation” used at Matthew 24:34 and of the timing of the judgment of “the sheep” and “the goats” mentioned at Matthew 25:31-46, as well as of our view toward certain types of civilian service. (Matthew 24:45) No doubt some apostates would have been delighted if many of Jehovah’s Witnesses had stuck rigidly to the previous understanding of such subjects and refused to progress. Nothing of the kind has happened. Why? Jehovah’s people are loyal.

Yes, anyone not rigidly adhering to Watchtower propaganda, err, policy, is a, gasp! APOSTATE!

If someone is sincerely interested in whether criticism of the Witnesses is based on fact or fiction, your own well-founded knowledge is usually sufficient to supply an answer.—See The Watchtower of March 15, 1986, pages 13 and 14.
Now this one is a jewel! The Watchtower is truth! If you don't believe that, then read it for yourself in the Watchtower!

Sometimes, I am simply amazed and sickened that I actually followed and bought into the tripe these people taught!

If God's Spirit is filling a Kingdom Hall, how is it that Satan can manuever the ones within that Kingdom Hall at the same time?

Whenever they go after whoever they will go after out here, DB, we'll be there for them.

Their hypocrisy and pride still blows me over.

    DAKOTA:
I looked up the first 3 scriptures, Luke 6:46, Mt 24:14, and Mt 28:19,20 and I, for the life of me, cannot figure out how they got "apostates" included in there......

Do the members even read and comprehend these scriptures, or are they sleeping through the study?

I love the false circular reasoning in this bit:

“But suppose we are preaching the good news and people raise questions or objections similar to those raised by opposers? Of course, if a person is not sincere and merely wishes to argue, usually it is best to excuse ourselves and go to the next door. . . .”

See how they make the wild assumption that someone who argues, is not sincere, and only sincere people don’t argue—in other words if your gullible and just suck up like a sponge all the JWs have to say then you’re sincere!

Next they say they do not have to read the “apostate” material to refute it. Oh, but they can say this “. . . book or a pamphlet that is filled with slander and half-truths.”

“But if someone sincerely asks about certain claims of apostates, what can be done? First, we can ask what, exactly, has caused the concern. It may be only one or two points. Then we can stick to these and answer from the Scriptures, from the Society’s publications, and from what we truthfully know about the subject. We need not conclude that we have to read a book or a pamphlet that is filled with slander and half-truths in order to refute the false claims and teachings of opposers.”

If they claim all the sites like JW-Quotes are “filled with slander and half truths” how can they answer the points without looking at the points, or are we just supposed to believe they are “filled with slander and half-truths” without checking just because the Watchtower says so? Of course!

Quotes here were from the Watchtower 1986, 15 March, pp. 13, 14

They may also claim to serve God but reject his representatives, his visible organization,

Yeah, right, that VISIBLE organisation that is referred to in the Bible at er...umm..er..just where IS it mentioned, tell me just once again.....

However this next quote is an absolute gem: "Recently, “the faithful and discreet slave” has helped us to refine our understanding of the term “generation” used at Matthew 24:34 and of the timing of the judgment of “the sheep” and “the goats” mentioned at Matthew 25:31-46, as well as of our view toward certain types of civilian service. (Matthew 24:45) No doubt some apostates would have been delighted if many of Jehovah’s Witnesses had stuck rigidly to the previous understanding of such subjects and refused to progress.

See, the way that I read this, is that the WTBTS has become well aware that ex's are having great sport with the failed generation prophesy. In fact, they have been delighted at the WT's discomfort.

BUT, they have seen that JW's would get a load of flak about the failed generation prophesy from delighted apostates, so they have already planted it in the minds of JW's that by changing the teaching, apostates have been proved wrong. They have, of course been proved right. What they have done is to use correct evidence to reach a false conclusion. It's an old trick.

    nice thread DR!

what strikes me as odd is the fact that they call apostate material lies and half-truths but discourage investigating it. every lie can be easely proved wrong by giving the facts. instead they hush it up.
and they discourage free, independant thinking. this was the first thing that started me having "dangerous doubts" as I know as student at a university that true investigation and research is not possible without free thinking. if you have the truth you should not fear criticism but encourage it as it will strenthen your point.
    only true propagandists shun criticisme.
