Open Letter To The Governing Body

    Dear Brothers,

I've been under the opinion that we Jehovah's Witnesses are famous for preaching this good news of the Kingdom. After all, Matthew 24:14 is our scripture and every cover of the Watchtower says 'Announcing Jehovah's Kingdom'.

I decided to take a survey to prove this point. When I would go into a restaurant for a coffee break while out in service, (honest I only took a short one and did not count my time while having coffee)I would ask the waitress, 'Have you ever heard of Jehovah's Witnesses'?
Most said they have. I then proceeded to ask them what they were famous for.

Many said things like, 'Michael Jackson' isn't he one of them'? Or aren't the Williams sisters Jehovah's Witnesses? Or, 'they're the ones that don't salute the flag, don't vote, or they're the ones that don't take blood transfusions, etc.,etc..

Never once, did anyone ever mention the Kingdom of God in reference to us. Why is this?

So, my question is this, what can we do to change things so that people will really know what we stand for and what we are preaching about?

    Warm Christian greetings,

    Outaservice

P.S. Do any of you guys ever get treated to dinner at Juniors or Mama Leoni's, Eamonn Doran's, La Traviata's or any other of the fine New York Restaurants? You might try asking the waiters the same question.

I find that interesting in this sense. My wife, years ago, mentioned to the parents of a friend of our son Barry that he was a good influence for thier son as he was "A Jehovah's Witness" I literally chuckled and got in trouble with her. Saying that one is a Jehovah's Witness means about as much as saying you belong to the Moose Lodge. WHO CARES> The Society preaches that the world knows the Witnesses for "Preaching the Kingdom" for thier upstanding morals, or what have you. HARDLY! They world sees the Witnesses as just another pesky group that knocks on the door selling their peculiar brand of Jesus. Some may even know them as the guys who don't celebrate Christmas (and theink them a bunch of Scrooges because of it) some very few might be aware that they refuse blood and don't vote/salute/serve in the military (except the military has more than one professed Jehovah Witness).

The world generally does NOT attribute any greater level of honesty, integrity, moral terpitude, or anything else to someone because they are a Witness. In fact, in most places it works against them socially. (Because they are persecuted because of the trufff, BWAHAHAHAHAHAHHA!) Hmmmmm...ummmmmmm sorry about that, had a fur ball caught in my throat. None of this of course applies to Sir Fred who IS seen as morally above everyone else. Meow Fred.

    Brother OutaService,

That was one great post. Now, can they be fulfilling Matt. 24, when people in the good old US of A, don't know what they believe. They certainly do not spread the "good news" to India where the ratio is one Witness to 40,000 others. Well, so much for the plague of locusts idea.

Hmmm, how long would it take one Witness to talk to 40,000 others based on ten hours a month. It has to be a long time. I will work out the math later.

    Greetings,

Great post Outaservice. I remember the negative comments I received when I was associated with the JWs. Nobody ever said that the JWs were known for preaching the "good news of the Kingdom." They just complained about being woke up on a weekend morning.

Regarding Michael Jackson, back in the 1980s a news magazine referred to him as the "most famous Jehovah's Witness of all time." I don't think that this went over to well with the Kingdom Governing Body even though Jackson probably donated millions to their coffers.

    Sincerely,

    Athanasius

Well, you can begin by telling them what really happened in 1975 when the end was supposed to come and then, you can tell them the whole story about the association of the WBTS with the UN. Finally, if you want, you can tell them that this religion has broke many families and they continue to do it.

A brother who believes JW’s belong to a superior race asked the question in a restaurant here. Just so happened the waiter had a JW neighbor who was a real asshole, screaming and fighting with his wife all the time. The brother spent 20 mins. trying to explain that this moron was the exception. Didn’t get around to Matt. 24 :14. Hahaha !

JW’s - no better no worse than anyone on the planet.

A friend of mine's daughter made the remark in high school that she used to be one of Jehovah's Witnesses.

The class was intrigued and wanted to know what that meant, and what Witnesses believed. None of them had a clue -- not even the teacher.
They did a Q&A and NONE of them knew that the message the JWs were bringing to the door was a message about God's Kingdom government coming SOON!

I see alot of them sort of hiding the fact they are witnesses.
I mean they don't even do field service in their own neighborhoods!
I've even seen some long timers get christmas cards from relatives!
    Weird way of proclaiming
