I have really enjoyed reading the many posts on this board. I especially appreciate the depth of research that I have seen. So, I would like to throw this question out there for any comments that anyone may have.
I NEED HELP DEPROGRAMMING MY MIND!
This summer is when the house of cards began to tumble for me. After reading many good books (Crises of Conscience, In Search of Christian Freedom, Signs of the Last Days, The Gentile Times Revisited, Apocalypse Delayed, Paul’s Idea of Community, Father/Son Relationship) and currently reading The True Believer (with People of the Lie and A Road Less Traveled next), I would like to ask everyone what have you read to help deprogram thoughts. I find myself still playing “old records” in my mind and now questioning everything. How do I get these “old records” of thoughts to go away? Or do I need to just keep slowly working through them with new thoughts and reasoning replacing them?
    WELL?

Just figure out what you believe, and live it.

If you find that something is difficult to come to a conclusion on, perhaps something you have always assumed *had* to be answered, adjust your own attitude till you are comfortable with having a good question rather than a bad answer.

The "old records" part? No big deal, as long you understand the source, and have decided to "question everything". That "questioning everything" thing is good. Keep it up.

There are generally no easy ways to "deprogram" yourself. Watchtower teaching is so effective that it sticks in the mind incredibly well. Only after a long, long time do most people find that they no longer react in the old ways. Time tends to heal everything, or at least, makes you more forgetful.

Enjoy the Freedom you now have. After all the years of being enslaved by the WT, you now have freedom. Use it to discover, to develop. Things that weren't allowed in the WT Org. you now have full freedom to do. This doesn't mean you should abuse this new found freedom. Use it the right way. And there are so many ways to use freedom. I love my freedom and I will never ever give it up again.
