Whoa, that's awesome. One time I was four-wheeling way out in the boonies with some freinds of mine and I came around a curve to find a puma sitting in the stump of a tree about 12 feet above the road. It was gone in about 1 second, but it was so vivid, with the black against all that brown and green. Almost surreal.

Is this taken where you live OFG?

I live in the mountains of Santa Cruz. Last night we did not see anything wild, but we SMELLED IT!!!

I went to bed early. Husband was up on the computer. At the same time I woke from my sleep and smelled something just AWFUL!!!!! OMG I cried out! Hubby got up and said he smelled it too!

Outside our cabin something was walking by!

It was a combo smell of URINE, METAL, DUST, FEATHERS, ROT

It came over the cabin like a wave and stayed for about 4 minutes.

Husband got the flashlight and carefully went outside for what seemed an eternity.

Neither of us made a sound. Oh the smell was almost intolerable! It was chokingly nauseating!

Just as it came, it went. The smell passed by.

We discussed the possibilities..... Pepe Le Pew, old sick possum, or a big cat with a deer or turkey corpse.

Its amazing how the wild life manages to live around us. Poor creatures and their plight. They have a hard life.

Yeah... This guy/gal trompped down the driveway for about 200 feet (not running, just trompin' along); which if how I ended up getting this photo... he/she stood about 4 foot tall with a 4-5 foot tail... hopefully next time I have the camera handy, it won't be foggy...

you seem to live a very exciting life!

As far as i'm concerened; you only live once...

OFG, Do you have kids? If so, don't you worry about a predator that big hanging around?

anewme, is it possible it was a bear? They are known to exude a rather, er sharp aroma!

    OFG, nice pic.

Sometimes you find a beaver that smells pretty bad too.

Gregor: Though the question was posed to OFG, I would think that these animals are more likely to keep their distance from humans.

OFG: Are these animals spotted often in your area?
