Hitlers in Headscarves
Maybe the same thing as any US city......too many people under the poverty line and racism.
The Roof , The Roof , The Roof is on Fire!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We don't need no water, let the mother....oh, wait, wait...got caught up in the moment....
I still say racism and poverty.

Well, we don't have 20% unemployment in the US...but yeah, racism and poverty doesn't help. What a nightmare! Neither does setting fire to schools, warehouses and cars...or buses that still have passengers on them. http://www.cnn.com/2005/WORLD/europe/11/04/france.riots/index.html
"Social fracture" to borrow from Chirac's propaganda slogan (in 1995!).
Not exactly the poor against the rich though.
Those who are "out" of the official economy and educational system (school dropouts, unemployed, living by social welfare and/or underground economy -- dope dealing, prostitution, which makes a chosen few wealthy) vs. those who are "in" (lower and middle-class workers, with their cars, firemen and cops). Racial issues are secondary to that but not indifferent -- the media "typical mobster" is a Black or Arab (preferably Arab) teenager.
20% unemployment
Actually it is a common rate in those suburban areas, not the national rate (just under 10 % which is already way too high).

which will be about what the US rate not too long from now. Thanks for the information Narkissos.
Love how you keep the US rosey eyebrow!
Nark,
Thanks for the clarification...I meant to add in those areas, but did not. I appreciate you correcting that.

Okay....well....I brought it up because you apparantly always see only the negative about the US. Of course the US isn't perfect, we have Bush as a president don't we? And we do have racism and poverty here as well. But even after the disaster with Katrina, we didn't have mobs of angry men burning down schools, cars, warehouses...etc., now did we? Hmmm..wonder why that was?
I just don't think poverty and racism is an excuse for burning down schools, buses, etc..etc...I do believe there are better ways to call attention to issues besides that. I did agree with you that it didn't help though, now didn't I.
