Paranoia about APOSTATES....Relentless

Just got the Watchtower Feb 15/04. This is what it reads :

Apostates may claim to worship Jehovah and to believe the Bible, but they reject the visible part of his organization......Under divine inspiration, the Bible writers used strong words to expose the motives and the methods of apostates.

What is it that apostates want? Most are not content to leave the faith that they once perhaps viewed as true. Often, they want to take others with them. Rather than going out and making their own disciples, many apostates seek to "draw away the disciples {that is, Christ's disciples} after themselves".

Regarding false teachers, the apostle Paul sounded this urgent warning: "look out: perhaps there may be someone who will carry you off as his prey." (Colossians 2:8) Does that not describe what many apostates try to do? Like a kidnapper who carries an unsuspecting victim away from his family, apostates prey upon trusting members of the congregation, seeking to carry them away from the flock.

What methods do apostates use to achieve their aim? They often resort to distortion, half-truths, and outright falsehoods.

How can we guard against being deceived by apostates? By heeding the advice from God's Word, which says: "Keep your eye on those who cause divisions and occasions for stumbling contrary to the teaching that you have learned, and avoid them". (Romans 16:17) We "avoid them" by steering clear of their reasonings--whether in person, in printed form, or on the Internet. Why do we take such a stand? First, because God's Word directs us to do so, and we trust that Jehovah always has our best interests at heart.--Isaiah 48:17,18.

Second, we love the organization that has taught us the precious truths that so plainly separate us from Babylon the Great. At the same time, we recognize that our knowledge of God's purpose is not perfect; our understanding has undergone adjustments over the years. Loyal Christians are content to wait on Jehovah for all such refinements. (Proverbs 4:18) Meanwhile, we will not abandon the organization tha God is pleased to use, for we see the clear evidence of his blessing upon it.

Seems to me that men at the Ivory Towers are getting really worried. Apostates must be doing more damage than we realize.

Yea, damn that Simon...He just hog-tied me and made me join this forum and post all the threads I posted.

Seems to me they do not want to take responsibility for any of the flock leaving the true organization. They disfellowship a third of their members every year and keep them from associating with the other members. That makes for a very welcoming organization now doesn't it?

To be honest (and I do love so many of them whom I've met over the years) I don't want to draw any one of them away to follow me...hell I can't stand to be around them!!!

God strike me down for telling the truth about how I feel...

    What a hoot!

    What a farce!

Apostates who believe the Bible CAN'T FIND ANY REFERENCE TO THE VISIBLE PART OF ANYONE'S ORGANISATION AT ALL, LET ALONE GOD'S!!!

And how do they explain all the apostates who never met other apostates until they were apostates. Hehe.

The whole thing sounds like they're describing themselves - were they the ones who put the bible together ?

They wish - they just changed it to promote their own "word" ?

They often resort to distortion, half-truths, and outright falsehoods.

    Got that right

Like a kidnapper who carries an unsuspecting victim away from his family

    Yep

"Keep your eye on those who cause divisions "

Second, we love the organization that has taught us the precious truths that so plainly separate us
Do you think they can actually manage to swallow this themselves?
we recognize that our knowledge of God's purpose is not perfect
No that really is some excusive, elusive and snaky writing dept. crapology - I think that I heard someone hissssssssssssss

I think that this could be very useful - can we get watchtowers and critique them ?

Seriously, I mean really really proper critiques - for each one as it comes out - no exageration or embelishment.

And plainly publish it on line as "a critique" - each watchtower - can they stop anyone doing that? Is there anything wrong with that at all, considering that they hand these publication out publicly?

I certainly think that a critique would qualify as "fair use." But I don't think it would be acceptable to publish the entire magazine. I think the rule might be 10%. Of course, I find it hard to believe that the legal department would really scan through the forum, looking for copyright violations, and if they really did and asked us to take the article down, then we could comply easily.

I'm actually interested in doing what you describe, Paduan. I wonder if there is an underground source for literature, since I really don't want to go to the KH to get it.

Did Jesus view the Pharisees, Saduccees, and scribes as being part of God's visible organization? Or what did he say to them? These are strong words, and if Jesus came today on earth would he say anything less to the WTS?

    John 8:31-44

    31

And so Jesus went on to say to the Jews that had believed him: "If YOU remain in my word, YOU are really my disciples, 32 and YOU will know the truth, and the truth will set YOU free." 33 They replied to him: "We are Abraham?s offspring and never have we been slaves to anybody. How is it you say, ?YOU will become free??" 34 Jesus answered them: "Most truly I say to YOU, Every doer of sin is a slave of sin. 35 Moreover, the slave does not remain in the household forever; the son remains forever. 36 Therefore if the Son sets YOU free, YOU will be actually free. 37 I know that YOU are Abraham?s offspring; but YOU are seeking to kill me, because my word makes no progress among YOU. 38 What things I have seen with my Father I speak; and YOU, therefore, do the things YOU have heard from [YOUR] father." 39 In answer they said to him: "Our father is Abraham." Jesus said to them: "If YOU are Abraham?s children, do the works of Abraham. 40 But now YOU are seeking to kill me, a man that has told YOU the truth that I heard from God. Abraham did not do this. 41 YOU do the works of YOUR father." They said to him: "We were not born from fornication; we have one Father, God."

    42

Jesus said to them: "If God were YOUR Father, YOU would love me, for from God I came forth and am here. Neither have I come of my own initiative at all, but that One sent me forth. 43 Why is it YOU do not know what I am speaking? Because YOU cannot listen to my word. 44 YOU are from YOUR father the Devil, and YOU wish to do the desires of YOUR father. That one was a manslayer when he began, and he did not stand fast in the truth, because truth is not in him. When he speaks the lie, he speaks according to his own disposition, because he is a liar and the father of [the lie].

    Matthew 23:27-33

    27

"Woe to YOU, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because YOU resemble whitewashed graves, which outwardly indeed appear beautiful but inside are full of dead men?s bones and of every sort of uncleanness. 28 In that way YOU also, outwardly indeed, appear righteous to men, but inside YOU are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.

    29

"Woe to YOU, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because YOU build the graves of the prophets and decorate the memorial tombs of the righteous ones, 30 and YOU say, ?If we were in the days of our forefathers, we would not be sharers with them in the blood of the prophets.? 31 Therefore YOU are bearing witness against yourselves that YOU are sons of those who murdered the prophets. 32 Well, then, fill up the measure of YOUR forefathers.

    33

"Serpents, offspring of vipers, how are YOU to flee from the judgment of Ge·hen´na?

And the dubbies sit in their seats and chant along.

"Apostates are evil liars...they reject Jehovah's organization...we must not listen to them...they are hateful and follow Satan...we must not listen to them..."
