Preaching Work Complete!!! or is it?

In 1989, we as JW's distributed and studdied many articles in the Watchtower. I remember one study article in particular that indicated that the preaching work would end by the end of the 20th century. When the year 2000 came around, I searched bound volumes and the watchtower cd, but couldn't find the statement. I eventually forgot about it until recently when doing research on some XJW sites. I found a reference on a site (I forget which) to the January 1, 1989 Watchtower, where it was stated that the bound volume and CD were altered from the original magazine. Not being one to just believe everything I read anymore (the society's cured me of that) I went to my Mom's house, because she doesn't get bound volumes, but saves original magazines. I found the change, scanned it, and am posting the scans for you. The altered sentance has been circled in red. If there are any problems viewing it, you can save them to your own computers and view in your favorite image viewer.

What do you think? Coverup? Deliberate deception? Any thoughts?

Wow! Good for you for doing that! I remember those mags and the hubub that happened when we got them... wow! We may not see the yearr 2000.. the new system will be here...

Are you sure that they deleted them? I wouldn't put it past the WTBTS...

Yeah, I didn't believe it myself until I got the original from my Mom. It makes me wonder how much has been changed that we don't know about.

Another bad attempt at a cover up by thesociety. Reading the introduction of the Awake! magazine prior to November 8th, 1995, you would read it this way :

"the Creator’s promise of a peaceful and secure new world before the generation that saw the events of 1914 passes away."

However, after Nov 8th, they wrote it this way :

"the Creator’s promise of a peaceful and secure new world that is about to replace the present wicked, lawless system of things."

Seeing as though Witnesses pride themselves on taking the bible so seriously, maybe they should read this:

' God Is not like men, who lie; He is not a human who changes his mind. Whatever he promises, he does; He speaks, and it is done.' Numbers 23:19

Notice how it was the creator's promise , not the authors promise. How presumpteous !

There was a day too, when I refused to believe the WTBTS would ever change their writings from their originals, to their bound volumes, reprints, and then the CDs. Until I got to see it with my own eyes.

What you have there is a piece of gold... I have been searching for an original copy of that wt for a long time.

You now how a simple choice:

Sell it and make some money.
Put the original wt and the bound volume together behind glass (don't cut anything out of anything, keep it all in original condition) and hang it proudly on your living room wall.

If I were you, I'd opt for #2. If you're not me, send me an email and I'll buy that wt from ya.
