Jeez, I cannot believe the crap they print. I am convinced that the GB believe they are Jehovah God. Everything makes sense now.

Jehovah Reveals His Glory To Humble Ones

Box on page 12 - Strong yet Humble

At the 1919 Cedar Point, Ohio, U.S.A, convention of the Bible Students (known today as Jehovah's Witnesses), 50-year-old

J.F. Rutherford, who was then overseeing the work, gladly volunteered as a bellhop, carrying luggage and escorting conventioners

to their rooms. On the last day of the convention, he electrified the audience of 7,000 with the words: "You are an ambassaor

of the King of kings and Lord of lords, announcing to the people...the glorious Kingdom of our Lord." While Brother Rutherford

was a man of strong convictions, known for speaking out forcefully and without compromise for what he believed to be the

truth, he was also genuinely humble before God, often reflecting that in his prayers at morning worship in Bethel.

I don't know about this humble servant of Jehovah who electrified an audience of 7,000.

Rutherford also said, "Millions Now Living Will Never Die". Humble and stupid are not the same.

I guess he wasn?t too humble when he wrongfully appointed himself president of the WTBTS after flagrantly disregarding and squelching anyone who would have voted against him.

And I guess he wasn?t too humble when he squandered an untold fortune of the Society?s assets to purchase a luxury mansion for himself the old patriarchs in the event of upon their definitely-expected resurrection when they come knocking on the front door. (Actually, even if Abraham or Noah actually did show up, he probably wouldn?t have been able to recognize them anyway if they showed up after noon because most likely he would have been into the bottle by then!)

And he certainly didn?t seem too humble when he deliberately provoked civil unrest by setting up soap-box sessions and rallies on the streets to elicit public annoyance foretold persecution.

?Strong? (arrogant, pompous, belligerent), yes. But ?humble?? I don?t think so. IMHO, I think he was a little too interested in pushing his own weight around.

There was, however, a leader I?ve read about who truly was ?strong, yet humble??I believe the name was Jesus Christ. He and Rutherford sure were worlds apart. (Different eras, different continents, and different classes altogether!)

Rutherford...gladly volunteered as a bellhop, carrying luggage and escorting conventioners to their rooms.

With all the turmoil in the movement in the late 1910's, Rutherford was probably glad to have any followers. He was trying anything, even "bellhopping", to convince them to stay.

He was also genuinely humble before God, often reflecting that in his prayers at morning worship in Bethel.

I read that when he prayed before others, his entire demeanor changed. He was like a little boy talking to his daddy when praying.

Who knows if this was "genuine" or not? You can only judge a man by his actions, rather than by pretentions and impressive prayers. Was he gentle around people? If not, then it doesn't matter how his prayers sounded.

Good point SAHS . We have caught the WTBTS once again tying to make a sinner into a saint . They just refuse to acknowledge the facts about false prophesy from these people they admire so much . In fact if he was a drunkard the bible is very clear that they are to be shunned .

Didn't Jesus have something to say about the Pharisees and their pretentious prayers in front of people, using their prayers to glorify their own self image? And the WT is using his prayers as an example of how humble the man is? Isn't this a little biblically inappropriate?

Shunned like how God shunned Noah and Lot?

Okay, rephrase it: In fact if he was a drunkard, the WTS is very clear that they are to be shunned

    Better?
