Conveniently unused scripture

Now that Ive stopped going to meetings, Ive had to become the faithful and discreet slave for myself, so to speak, and read the bible often and meditate on what it says.

Just last night, I read this scripture that dumbfounded me: -

Now Jehovah is the Spirit; and where the spirit of Jehovah is, there is freedom. 2 Corinthians 3:17

Is this scripture saying that Jehovah is the Holy Spirit or that the Holy Spirit is part of him? Notice Spirit spelt with a capitol S, and then spelt with a lower case S.

Does this give rise to the question of the NWT being a dodgy translation?

The next verse 18 ends with Jehovah [the] Spirit.

Also noting in verse 17, that there is no freedom in the WTS, is it then reasonable to suggest that the Spirit of Jehovah isnt with the WTS?

    Questionable stuff.

Are these reasons why Ive never read these verses in any WTS publications?

And can anyone advise me as to which is the best bible translation to use?

Then take out "Jehovah" and put Lord there as the real manuscripts do, because "Jehovah" isn't in the Greek manuscripts at all.

But the WTBTS felt authorized to just put it in on their own.

2 Cor. 3:16 Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away. 17 Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.

    Pleasuredome,

Actually it is more like this. The discussion in which the text appears was about those that were keeping the Law and/or still felt sympathetic towards it when Moses (the Law) was read. It is like they were still longing for the good old days. But the Law was done away with when the vail was cut in the Temple. And this promised liberty will not come until those keeping this Law or their longing for it finally cut their ties to it. Everything this Law represented to them (it was a way to salvation at that time) is now embodied in the Lord. The expression spirit or holy spirit however the translators render it is not used in the sense of a Being or Person. It is used to express this concept of Law which in its day built character in Jews but now in our day the Spirit of the Lord that replaced it and serves that same function builds an entirely new person with an entirely new character free from such laws and regulations in Christ.

    P.S.

Also noting in verse 17, that there is no freedom in the WTS, is it then reasonable to suggest that the Spirit of Jehovah isnt with the WTS?

Never was. It pretends to represent the faith in the world but can be recognized by its fruits.Too many have suffered and/or died because of it's lies. Nothing they teach can be trusted.

An other one they're used not to mention is Jeremiah 25:12

12 "But when the seventy years are fulfilled, I will punish the king of Babylon and his nation, the land of the Babylonians, for their guilt," declares Jehovah, "and will make it desolate forever.

Hello, heres a site for yahs.I thought it was interesting. You all may have read this anyways...

    http://www.letusreason.org/JW38.htm

Here is something that another lady pointed out to me about the NWT and scriptures.

A perfect example if the WTS moving a jot or a tittle is in :

Luke 23:43 Jesus said to the thief on the cross "Verily I say unto thee,(comma) Today shalt thou be with me in paradise."

Now compare this with the NWT -------->"Truly I tell you today,(comma) You will be with me in Paradise."

You can see clearly that the comma was placed in this place to take away from the heavenly hope to anyone who believes in Jesus. No other translation has a comma in this spot. Why? Because this is how the WTS wants the JW's to believe.

There are many more distortions in their NWT. And no true scholar's of the Greek or Hebrew recognizes the NWT as a true translation.

    And another -

In bibles Thomas says " My Lord and my God "

But in the NWT we have Thomas freakin out about it " My Lord and my God!! "
