Mark Sanderson - Why Is the Newest GB Member Suddenly So Prominent?
by Oubliette ini've noticed something that is very odd even by wt/gb standards.
why is mark sanderson suddenly so prominent in all things wt/jw?.
others have commented on the obvious narcissism of the gb pushing themselves to the fore recently, in particular after their huge doctrinal change at proclaiming themselves and only themselves as the faithful and discreet slave.. this is clearly true as evidenced at the agm, not only throughout the agm, but also in the video that was featured as part of that meeting.

Local Needs 07/08/2014
by piztjw ini don't know whether i should laugh, or run screaming into the night.. tonights "local needs" was titled "are you following 'the slave' "?.
the theme scripture was 1 peter 2: 21. it was applied that by following jesus steps closely we would then be able to keep up with 'the slave'.
now i don't know about others, but if i were to follow one person and that meant to keep up with someone else, it would mean that the person i was following was following the other person.

Another comment from the stage was that, "thanks to jw.(b)org the kingdom has been proclaimed in the remotest parts of China and Africa"
China's internet access is greatly monitored and censored by their government.

org is dying
by lambsbottom ini don't understand why so many ex jws and faders think that the jws will continue to grow and thrive as a religion.
i still attend a meeting once a week and you can smell the death of the religion creeping up when you hear the talks, read the study wts and hear the letters from the gb.
the way the organization has changed is a sign that it reached its peak (in "healthy" membership) long ago.

All I know is that most of the kids I grew up with are no longer "in". And I'm in my late 40's.
And my kids and most of their friends they grew up with are not "in" either. This is age group 20's-30's. The few that still go occasionally are clearly only in it for mommy & daddy. They're partying, getting tattoos, smoking pot. I see their facebook pages.

How Did "Shepherding Calls" Go For You?
by minimus indid you loath them?
did you feel it was a "privilege" to have the elders care deeply about your spiritual well being?
if you were an elder or ministerial servant, did you enjoy going to the homes of the sheep?.

Lifting the Veil on "Islamophobia"
by cofty inthe late christopher hitchens decribed the word islamophobia as "created by fascists, and used by cowards, to manipulate morons.. please take half an hour to read a fascinating conversation between sam harris and ayaan hirsi ali.. ayaan is an apostate from islam.
she fled to the netherlands in '92 to escape an arranged marriage and went on to become a member of the dutch government from 2003-2006.. ayaan is now a fellow with the future of diplomacy project at the belfer center for science and international affairs at the harvard kennedy school... she lives with round-the-clock security.. "some moderate muslims hate meand yes, thats a strong word, but i think what theyve said supports itbecause i make them feel uncomfortable.
the things i talk about put them in a state of dissonance that they cant live with.

Apog:
To suggest that Islam is somehow more dangerous than Christianity, when Christians had their own jihads in past centuries that we call the Crusades, and when England once publicly tortured and beheaded criminals, is ignorant of history and of the natural progression of a society over time. Extreme Muslims are exactly where some Christians were in a past era.
That is EXACTLY the point, though. Society progresses and learns from the past. The world, in general, reacts in horror when atrocities happen in a country.
What is it about Islam that makes it ignore documented history and want to commit the same atrocities, while the rest of the world is appalled by such things?
I'm not sure it's in Islam's best interests for the rest of the world to sit back and say, "Oh well, they'll figure it out." as you suggest.

I went today for the first time in 6 years - I promised a relative I would go.
The whole thing was like Coors Light beer. I don't know what the name of the talk was, but it basically just went over Jesus' life. Nothing stood out. Then the WT study - you're right, just regurgitating whatever the paragraph said.
It was really boring. I didn't feel built-up, encourged or happified. I didn't feel anything at all.

I have recently come to the same realization about my family.
I hear about other family's - adult siblings getting together, sisters hanging out shopping or going for lunch, moms who drop by to see their grandkids....it makes me sad.
But my family was so dysfunctional. I realized that I missed the IDEA of family, but I didn't miss my own family.

by adamah inthere's an interesting medicolegal issue arising out of tx, a pregnant women who suffered a pulmonary embolism in november and died (when she was 14 weeks pregnant).. however, the body has been kept on life-support all this time (against her and her husband's wishes), due to an ambiguous tx state law (tex hs.
