YK, True; a shocking, cataclysmic 'end' could engulf this world at anytime. But nothing that JW's have said or done will vindicate them as true prophets, and nothing that they have said or done will provide them with any special 'protection' from such an event.

INDEED, LET THE GAMES BEGIN
by You Know inseveral enemies of the watchtower have ebulliently expressed the sentiment: let the games begin.
indeed, i too share that desire to let the games begin, so-to-speak.
but, what exactly are we to expect when once the games commence?

We thank you Jehovah
by ballistic inwhen the new song book "sing praises to jehovah" was introduced from the great publishing company in 1984, it was clearly and frankly admitted (suprisingly) that some of the old songs had to be dropped due to the fact they were copied from other religions and some even infringed copyright in this regard.
however, from an early age "we thank you jehovah" had always reminded me of "god save the queen" and this song was not dropped and continues to be regularly used down to this day.. i realise in later life that the two songs are indeed similar in a musical sense.
you can almost play one song on top of the other in places and the starting chord structure is identical.. also, the two songs both seem to have a certain feeling of reverence which i am not sure is conjured up by the timing and the harmony alone or by the meaning the songs have in terms of their lyrics and use.. it turns out the british tune has been used many times over by different people and even by other countries, as european visitors to britain in the eighteenth century noticed the advantage of a country possessing such a recognised musical symbol - including germany, russia, switzerland and america (where use of the tune continued after independence).

I always felt that many of those songs reminded me of pre-war Germany.

CO talk
by Fatal Error inwe had our second co talk yesterday, the topic of which was loyalty, thinly veiled as to one another, but dripping with threats toward those who might go against the society.. after the usual drivel about the society being god's organisation, and appreciating their junk food (as an aside, has anyone actually vomitted up any of this "food"??
just wondering...), i was rudely dragged out of my slumber by the co's harsh declaration that we should shun all those who slipped away from the thruth, as they inactivity is a bad influence.
he went on to heap the blame on them, "if they feel this way, then they should expect their due", "they bring shunning onto themselves" etc.... has it always been this way?

I can just get a real visual of him, up there now, oozing with love, with one of those trademark 'you're gonna pay bigtime!' expressions. Eyes bulging, veins popping, truly a Christ-like moment. Ironic isn't it how the majority of JW's love worldly organizations(Welfare, Housing Assistance, Reduced Pay Medical Clinics) but condem the people, and most of us here condem their fecund organization yet love the people.

What Am I thinking?????
by butalbee inwith all the recent hog wash going on in my life, i can't believe i am even entertaining this notion.
everybody on this board knows how i feel about this path, these beliefs, and here i am thinking, pondering wondering, maybe jehovahs witnesses do have something to offer me, maybe i need their 'close nit' love inside their congregations?
maybe i could see the truth, if i only opened my eyes to it and tried to accept it???

One of the gifts of being out from WTBS control is the opportunity to meet people/groups that believe in the freedom of letting others learn at their own pace. To allow others this process seems to be a true test of love and faith in somehthing greater than me. I most often can't choose my teachers or my lessons, so I say thank-you all for your contributions.

A big "thank you" to everyone here
by Simon inin the past i have sometimes felt like i have to be the 'bad guy', so to speak, because i need to lock or delete topics, deactivate people, try and stop fights and such like - basically, telling people off and not being 'nice'.. well, apart from the odd heated debate and harsh word (and disruptive 'visit') i have not really had a great deal to do for the past month or two and it has been very nice - a pleasure to serve.. so ... i thought i should say a 'thank you' instead of a "stop it!
" for once

...and in the final part of the daze, a Website will be set-up, and to it all sorts of sorts will come....thanx Simon (unless of course you really are a very sly WTBS agent and we're all just about to get the real squeeze of brotherly love)

Once again....No wonder they wanted us(as hurt, confused, seemingly lonely advocates against WTBS pedophilia policy) to stay away from the internet.

Anointed Experience #3 - He Just Can't Be!
by Amazing inthe society literature has given mixed messages, but older literature tended to lay the basis closer to the bible that those 'anointed' are not chosen according to position, age, or experience, but according to god's will.
as the decades of the 40s and 50s passed, the subsequent decades brought in the view that those chosen to be 'anointed' would be chronologically older, many years as very active jws, likely serving in some position such as pioneer for sisters and elder for men.. the reason for the changed view: given that the society stated that the "general' call to heaven ended in 1935, then only a few replacements would be needed to fill vacancies by 'anointed' who died unfaithful to jehovah.
to the society it stood to reason that jehovah would only call 'mature' individuals with much experience as very faithful jws ... but ... they never made this a hard and fast rule, so at times, some jws would feel they wanted to go to heaven, and managed somehow to overcome the cultural fear of being different by making such a profession of faith.. nevertheless, as jws of the other sheep aged in the 1980s and 1990s, the view toward younger, newer 'anointed' became more and more jaundiced.

Amazing, Thanks for the honesty. I've known a few younger 'annointed'. Now don't get me wrong, but sometimes I think wanna-be and has-been 'annointed' ones need to work a good 4th, 5th, and 9th Step.

OUR LAWYER'S LETTER TO WATCHTOWER & THERE R...
by ARoarer inwhen an elder called us to "invite" us to the kh to meet with them to question us regarding accusations of apostasy, while another elder sneakily sat on another line as a "second witness", we, after not being active for several years, having no contact with anyone in the congregation, we felt their phone call was harrassing.
we called our lawyers who drew up a letter that say:.
watchtower bibel & tract society.

I was thinking.....
How many times have we all heard the quote ' most people are disfellowshipped for immorality' and how pure that makes the WTBS look. It will be interesting to hear their spin on it when the majority of us have been terminated for 'apostasy'. -

Why the hell do I have this pathetic life?
by Nicolas ini' so tired of this.

Hey Nicolas,
Like they say, 'don't give up before the miracle'. Reminds me about the story of the drunk that sobered up, and then felt God had cursed him for doing so because 'now' he was left-handed. Truth was, he was always left-handed, just didn't know it.
