Both Raised as Jehovah's witnesses since childhood . Husband Served as a commuter at Patterson after High School . Served as a Regular pioneer , Ministerial Servant and as a Congregation Elder for 7 years . During that time I served as Watchtower Conductor , T.M.S overseer and Acting Cong. Secretary . Stepped down and we both faded away 5 plus years ago . We are still trying to redefine ourselves after a lifetime of being JW's . For the most part things are smoothing out . The 2 main things we struggle with are : 1) How to learn to make close friends after having lost all the friends and family we have ever known . and 2) How to learn to trust and open up yourself to being vulnerable to those friends after having "lifelong friends" turn their backs on you in an instant . We have avoided close ex-Jw connections since most we have met have been bitter or angry and wish to endlessly revisit the negative aspects of their past . We are neither bitter nor angry ... just FREE . We on the other hand want only to look forward to the positive opportunities and prospects ahead of us . We feel that spending too much time walking down memory lane hands power and authority of our thoughts back to the WTBTS ... the very reason we walked away ! We are here just looking to learn from those who share a portion of this journey .
