Yup they are building their compound, and putting up metal fences around the KHs. JWs themselves have always had invisible fences around them, put up by the WT, it's just now becoming more obvious!

In love with a JW...
by CuriousUK inapologies if this has been discussed before, or is in the wrong forum, but i could really do with some advice.

I would rather marry a drug addict, they only have a monkey (singular) on their back. JWs have gorillas (plural).
With a drug addict, they are the problem, with JWs YOU are the problem, and these gorillas, will do whatever it takes to make you NOT the problem any more. Either push you out, indoctrinate you, pressure pressure pressure. Either run now, or cave in, suffer, lose years of your life, and run later, either way is gonna hurt.
I personally prefer the, rip the band-aid off quickly route myself.

The UN involvement was the beginning of the end for me. No part of the world means just that NO PART. They DON'T get access to the library, they DON'T get access to the front door, There is NO EXCUSE, period. When a R&F could be DF for cleaning the floors at the UN yet the WT can join as an NGO, something is seriously wrong.
Plus growing up, WT telling us over, and over, and OVER that the UN=Wild Beast and those fornicating with it are part of the Harlot, again, period!. They aren't even the classy part of the harlot, they slept with the wild beast for what was essentially free (that's their lame excuse anyway). They gave it up without even getting dinner first.
Then to find out all the WT claims were out and out LIES, just pushed me right over the edge. Who is the father of the lie? hmm. It broke my heart, I was like Maria in West Side Story - please let it not be trrrue, please let it not be trrrrue. Waking up to all this was hard, I felt like I was losing my mind. Glad I had the courage to continue researching (courage it was, I was terrified), because, it really is true what they say, the truth hurts, and the truth will set you free. I expereinced both of those.

are jw the most dispised religion by the public?
by mP ini remember going to a new school, and before i said anything there were a few kids poking fun at jehovah.
jehovah this and that .
at no stage did i ever hear anyone mention any other god or religion in conversation or playground banter.

Kids will pick on anything that is different. School yard bullies do not the world make. Honestly, in the real world, JWs are minor players. As far as real religous persecution, JWs have it pretty easy compared to some.

If you've left JWs for Christ - will the end still come?
by flamegrilled insomething i don't see supported much on jwn is the notion that the end of this system is indeed coming, even if later than wts has predicted over the years.. now for those that have left and become complete non-believers (in the bible) that is understandable.
you guys are welcome to comment of course, but i'm far more interested in some feedback from the people who have left jws and pursued a christian course.
are you still convinced that there will be a war of armaggedon or do you now interpret the scriptures a different way?.

I don't know for sure what I believe, I am still in the circling flight pattern, looking at everything, both atheist and theist. I have to say however, I feel so much better in this search mode than I ever did "having the truth".
I will say this, I no longer believe in the WT version of armageddon. Even if they are right (haha fat chance) I will take the WT armageddon over the WT new order. That would be hell.

Some Witnesses Seem To Relish Bad News
by EmptyInside init may be just my imagination, but sometimes i think witnesses get overly excited when a natural disaster or some violent event happens.
i guess they feel it proves their point on how awful things are.. my mother seems to be this way.
she seemed elated to tell me about a couple shootings that took place in our city today.

Work, slave, wait, work, slave, wait. They are tired, they want it over. They are missing life waiting for life to start. Sad I wasted so much of my life doing exactly the same thing.

Two new experiences.....
by Momma-Tossed-Me inall of you share your experiences about encountering jw's and i enjoy them so much....here are two that just happened over the weekend for your enjoyment.. so as you all may know last december i was officially labeled by the borg.
so now all jdubs must shun me who have known me since birth and thereafter.. i had a booth at a local festival this saturday and a jw was the chairman of this years deal.
so he is also a photog and he was going to each booth and taking a picture of it.. he did the one right beside me and then did a wide half circle to get to the next booth on the other side so as not to get to close to the new town apostate.

I love the buying lunch idea. I sure hope they didn't put their lunch money in the contribution box. I laughed out loud at the article suggestion "what to do when an apostate buys you lunch". too funny.

risc of allowed fractions
by inbetween ina brother in my hall mentioned in a twist of scriptures how we can thank the faithful slave class for warning us in connection with blood transfusions since 1945, because now the medical field recognises the riscs and try to minimize the use of blood.. despite the fatcs, that this statement is ridicolous in so many ways, i d like to find information (outside the "apostate" realm) that proves, that even allowed fractions are involing the risc of getting hepatitis, aids etc.... that would completely refute such a notion.. thx in advance... .

My favorite argument of theirs is "blood transfusions slow down the healing process" from what I understand Death does too. As the poster above states, everything has risk, sometimes the risk is worth it. Jesus himself said, do not be stumbled by what others eat. He asked for mercy, not sacrifice.
Not so long ago myself, I would have died for the blood issue, now I see it for what it is. Human sacrifice, makes for a good article.

i think i?ve been repressing my anger about this and now i need to vent.

To those posters who feel that the "show must go on" since they do it at football games or other similar situations, the difference with many of these stories, is they are congregational level.
Congregations, of people you meet with and sit with 3 times a week (once upon a time). Congregations of smaller groups that are suppose to be a "loving organization" united in "brotherly love" The JWs love to boast how "loving" they are. For many of these stories, the victim in question was ONE OF THEIR OWN, as JWs we were taught we were a FAMILY in this so called "loving" organization. Football teams, stages shows, etc don't claim to be more loving than everyone else, that is entertainment, not a loving family, can't even compare them.
I can see situations, where, "we didn't know what else to do, so we continued", that by itself is not what many of us find fault with. It is the treatment of those hurt and their families by this so called "loving" organiztion. The only "love" they show, is for the rules, order, and organization. Classic mind control of "principles before people." It breaks my heart.
The only real memory I have of this, and I was young enough to be confused by it, was when a young brother died. He was a new driver, and it was a car accident. I remember him as one of those teenagers that was always nice to the younger kids, and didn't treat us like we were the pain in the neck pipsqueaks we really were. I was broken hearted, for myself, for the congregation, and mostly for his parents.(I was a tender hearted kid) This was my first real personal experience with death, and even now, my eyes are welling up. I remember the funeral well, I was, even as a young child, suprised by the lack of tears. I even controlled my own, since it seemed that tears were a no-no. I heard a lot after that, that tears and grief = lack of faith.
I never quite understood that, even as a kid, how we were not even allowed to miss them, while we waited for the new order. But I was a believer back then, and tried to accept that. Funny how I always thought there was something wrong with me, that I just couldn't understand it all, turns out there was something right with me, that was seeing thru the hypocricy. As stated by many, I am so glad to be free from all of that.

Kingdom Hall remodel - scam
by Dagney ini was wondering from any here in the know, does it seem like there is a lot of "remodels" going on?.
in the last week i had the occasion to talk with two jw's in different halls, about 10 miles apart.
they both are undergoing major remodels.

$20,000 for a toilet (exaggeration), $100,000(pretty close to fact) for a new parking lot, $70,000 for a paint job (pretty close to fact). Take out a loan FROM the society, and pay it back WITH interest. Yeah, but they are an "honest" organization. *faceplant*
It's sad, if they would just get real estimates on these "upgrades" they would see just how much they are being ripped off.
