"Once Upon a Time..."
by LucidSky ini had a fantasy once.
it wasn't so bizarre.
i'm certain that most people have wished that they would never have to die.

Divorce or Stay Together?
by LucidSky indo you know any couples that were miserable together?
or maybe just not married to the right persons?
yet they stay together anyway because it was a 'grave sin against jehovah's arrangement'?.

Is Anyone a Pantheist ?
by LucidSky inis anyone a pantheist ?.
in my search for the meaning of life, it has been only a month or two since i've actually become agnostic.
my reason for the final rejection of christianity was that i could not believe a god of love, justice and wisdom would create a world that along with life/pleasure would also foster death/suffering for seemingly infinite numbers of innocent and not-so-innocent beings.

I can prove that God does not exist.
by LucidSky injust thinking.... i can believe that a higher intelligence entity (hie) cannot be proven.
i am willing to accept that a hie cannot even be definitively induced, even for marvels that we cannot demonstrate at this time (e.g.
natural transformation of elements into living material).

Protecting Children From Sex
by LucidSky inwith controversy surrounding a soon-to-be-published book entitled harmful to minors: the perils of protecting children from sex ( http://more.abcnews.go.com/sections/us/dailynews/childsex_book020405.html), it is apparent that attitudes may indeed be changing in our society in regard to sex among youths.
instead of being totally avoided, they may be given encouragement to practice sex (obviously within safe limits) with other youths or even adults.
some cultures already encourage something like this.. socially, it seemed that boys were given subtle encouragement to "score", while girls were always viewed as the innocent victims to be protected from such lustful young men.

Where do you see us going?
by LucidSky insuppose some higher intelligence did not make us what we are.
humanity is truly in control of it's entire destiny... however good, or bad, that may (yet) turn out to be.
that pleasantly frightening thought crosses your mind on occasion when your faith structure is challenged.. here are some things i'm guessing might be in store for the future (fyi: i'm an optimist):.

Relating to Non-JW's
by LucidSky ini read the "ex-witness singles" thread and it seems like a good idea.
the thought has crossed my mind many times before since non-jw's often don't seem to care or understand.
i would love being able to relate on something that has played such an important part of your lives (uh, understated - something your world is supposed to revolve around.

Restrictive vs Permissive
by LucidSky inhardcore dubs can be quite restrictive on their kids.
they are simply following organization rules but try to impose them on their children: no school sports or activities for you and absolutely no parties with those evil, worldly corruptibles in your class.
oh, and you must never, ever be alone with someone of the opposite sex because the instant you are, you'll just be ripping each other's clothes off... i'm not sure if it was because they were in the spotlight more, but it seemed to me that the kids with the hardcore parents were the ones getting baptized early and then getting disfellowshiped or reproved a couple years later.. jw parents have huge issues of mistrust and they close the channel of communication because their children fear reproof.

Bible Students
by LucidSky ini explored a few options as i was coming out of the organization.
nominal christianity had no appeal except that it was without the policing and punishment of the jw's.
there was no open discussion still and i didn't agree with most of it.
