Would You Like WatchTower Better if They Open a Soup Kitchen or Charity Thrift Store?
by cameo-d ini see over and over so many times jws and x-jws alike complaining about wt's lack of charity work.
it almost seems to imply that wt would be an ok religion if only they opened a soup kitchen or had some charity pet project.. do you really think that a food bank would reconcile all of the sins of that organization?.
would you be more inclined to accept wt teachings if only they would do something to help "needy people"?.

Are mentally ill people possessed by demons? Watchtower view.
by ThomasCovenant inwatchtower 15th march 1953 page 191.. ''there is no reason to think that they [demons] cannot possess persons today.. this is not to say that all those mentally sick are so possessed, for they are not.. mentally sick persons, however, in their weakened state, may present more vulnerable targets for their assaults and invasions.. some show evidence of demon possession, whereas others show evidences of merely mental sickness or nervous breakdown.
'' (emphasis mine).
i for one would not want to work with people with mental illness or depression just in case they were possessed by some of those pesky spirits.. .

"The point is that earthquakes are common and always have been,"
by purplesofa insurvivors shiver in turkey after quake kills 51by burhan ozbilici and suzan fraser, associated press writersmon mar 8, 3:39 pm etokcular, turkey hundreds of earthquake survivors huddled in aid tents and around bonfires monday in eastern turkey, seeking relief from the winter cold after a strong temblor knocked down stone and mud-brick houses in five villages, killing 51 people.http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100308/ap_on_re_eu/eu_turkey_earthquake/print;_ylt=aovcmz.3hc_i9x940453ssxbbbaf;_ylu=x3odmtbvajzzatfybhbvcwmxnqrzzwmddg9wbhnsawnwcmluda--.
monday's quake in eastern turkey followed deadly recent temblors in haiti and chile, but bernard doft, the seismologist for the royal netherlands meteorological institute in utrecht, said there was no direct connection between the three.. "these events are too far apart to be of direct influence to each other," he said.. richard luckett, a seismologist from the british geological survey, said there has not been a spike in global seismic activity.. "if there was a big increase in the number of magnitude 6.0s in the past decade we would know it, because we would see it in the statistics," luckett said.
"we haven't seen an increase in 7.0s either.".

This exJW spokeswoman has an important message, and she is...
by observador indarn pretty too.. have you seen this video on how to help the victims of the haiti earthquake?
the website says that they're aiming for $10,000 and have reached 4,7000. not much, but it's probably $4,700 more that what the wt has donated to those poor people.. i love the bad publicity on the wt organization, and making a donation will help someone out there in haiti.
it's called exjws4haiti.com.. take a look: http://www.exjws4haiti.com/.

Elder rules regarding young children
by lancelink inthis afternoon i was talking to one of my sons (25 yrs old) and he was telling me stories about how he felt as a young jw.
some of the stories were pretty sad.. it got me thinking ,, the elders were real "micromanagers" when it came to young kids at the meetings.. we were not allowed to bring books outside of the wt, no alphabet, picture, or counting type books .. also food was a big no-no.
when my kids were toddlers, we would bring cheerios, small stuff like that.. the wizards would bellow from the stage, "you should not feed your kids, take care of that before the meetings.. after that time, i still brought food with, we just made several trips down to the basement during the meetings.. out in service on a 95 degree day no shade, kids and parents were advised to keep your tie on.

Funniest Talk or Weird Things That Happened In Your Hall.
by Nephilim inthere is always at least 2 or 3 really crazy persons in the kingdom hall.
the kind of person that when they raise their hand the speaker on stage knows he's taking a gamble if he calls on them - yet he can't discriminate.. anyhow, i remember one time a younger brother was doing sound and one of those crazy brothers was about to give his 5 minute talk (i forget what number that was, prior to them just reading scripture).
the crazy brother slipped the young brother doing sound a cd and said "play this when i get on stage".. well, he gets up on stage and all of a sudden hawaiian music starts playing... the man on stage just starts dancing.
