A young disfellowshiped brother at our hall was putting off surgery that he needed until he got reinstated so he would have the support of the elders. Don't know what ever happened. I was drifting away at the time. When I heard about this it was just one more thing to give me a push out of the WTS. All I could think was "how unloving".

Humanitarian Help from Elders?
by Thirdson ini was reasearching something recently and reading the "secret elder manual".
i barely skimmed through this book when i had one and see it in a whole new light now.. this is the question the "flock" book tries to answer:.
what can elders do if a disfellowshipped person is hospitalized and facing the issue of blood transfusions?.

'The Assembly days'
by jolly_green_giant inremember going to the 3 day assembly every summer, sitting for numerous exhausting hours on end?
those were tough on me especially when i was really young and wasn't supposed to be roaming the convention center while the talks were being given.
i couldn't beleive those pricks with the "please be seated" sings.

Always got perturbed when the restroom attendants told us ladies which stall to wait in front of. Surprised they didn't set a timer for us once we got in. Makes you wonder how we ever survive going to the bathroom at an amusement park or rock concert without such superior instruction.LOL.

I'm with target on this one. I feel stupid and embarrassed. Wasted what should have been the best 25 years of my life. It really hurts to admit it, but that is the only way to move on.

It makes me sad
by ashitaka ini was feeling sad tonight until i drank a bit of the stoli....seriously, though.....i am feeling a bit down because of the whole business with my brother.
my mother is sickly, and if she were to pass away, then her life would count up to only sadness.
her husband was a bastard abuser, her parents are dead, her friends all left her when she defended her children...it makes me sad.. ashi

Michael Jackson's "Pioneering" Experi...
by Eyebrow inone thing that always annoyed the heck out of me was so called famous witnesses.
it really annoyed me that they could have a public life so contrary to the witness life we were supposed to be leading as witnesses.
i got a kick out of an article michael jackson has about his experience as a witness youth and the sabbath and "pioneering".

On a music awards show I watched recently (don't remember which one) MJ thanked his rabbi during his acceptance speach.

Love this one that my 17 yr. old daughter came home with on her car..."I'm going nuckin' futs". LMAO at it! Funny thing is, not too long ago I would have been horrified at it. (What would the brother's think? What would the neighbors think?) Who the hell cares? It feels great to be myself and be free to laugh at something that I think is funny! Gosh, I must be in a mood today! Hope I didn't offend anyone.

Overweight JWs -- on the increase?
by Seeker inyes, i know, the title is a pun.
it was deliberate.. i can recall in the 1970s seeing very few overweight jws.
in fact, i used to think (in my arrogant jw manner) that this was a sign of how jws were better at self-control than worldly people.

This reminds me of a Witness get together I attended some years ago. Everyone was commenting on how delicious everything was and one sister jokingly said "No wonder Witnesses are such good cooks. It's the only thing we're allowed to do." Funny how these topics bring back so many wierd little memories.

poll? is the u.n./wtbts issue your last straw?
by zev inis it your last straw?.
its my last straw.
reading that letter from the u.n. has sealed it for me.

This was not my last straw. I was already certain that I would not go back. However this is "huge". It really confirmed what a bunch of hypocrites the boys in Brooklyn are. Really made my husband think as well. For him I think that this will be the last straw. I think he will be able to move on and begin to let go of the "guilt trips" that the Borg loves to place on us. A big "thank you" to everyone who worked so hard on this. Guess this post makes me an official apostate!lol.

Been lurking for about four months. Read this topic and decided now would be as good a time as any to join. This site has helped me tremendously. Can't believe how many people on this board have expressed my exact feelings on so many things. I'm sure that there are a lot of other lurkers out there just trying to get up the courage to make their first post. If I can do it, anybody can!
