My experience
by spawn inthought i'd better say hi!
to say i was once a "worldly person" would be an understatement.
i consider myself to be a man who has "been there and done that" and enjoyed all the pleasures of the world.

Who do you pray when you feel the need to pray if you dont believe in God?
by cyberjesus insometimes when we face difficult situations i feel the need to pray to god for help, and i know that plenty of times the sole act of praying makes you feel hope and have a better outcome of the situation.
you can call it suggestive or that you prepare a positive scenario by using faith.
the outcome is that regardless if there is someone who listens or not to your prayers oftentimes you feel better afterwards and have more positive attitude.. the problem is that i dont believe in god anymore.

What do you think of the GB's new tactics?
by lepermessiah inhere is what i am getting at with that subject title:.
this sunday's wt study article really hit home for me what many have been talking about on the forum.. when i was growing up, there was a big deal made about the identity of each gb member - people would wax poetically about working with them at bethel, meeting them at a convention, etc.it wasn't unusual for them to be frequently named in articles, pictured in books, and somewhat glorified.. the president of the wtbs was practically on par with christ - he was viewed as practically a deity.. i had friends who could not only name the 12 apostles, but could rattle off the names of the gb members!
now, it seems like the tactic has changed, starting with the reduction of the presidents' role of a few years ago - place massive emphasis on the gb itself as a unit, but keep the profile of the members lower.

Funny how my family acts when it comes to ALCOHOL
by Butterflyleia85 inso yesterday my fiance (nonjw) and i went to my mom's for dinner and invited my sister's husband and her as well.
it was a nice visit but i couldn't help but notice a watchtower that had in bold letters alcohol on her coffee table.
i didn't make a comment but just chucked in my head as i recall my mom's "drinking" (as far as problem i'm not sure) but as dinner begin my mom offered beer which then i realize now her thinking, she is leading to the idea of moderation and that watchtower is there as her reminder to keep it in moderation.. then we were getting on the subject of age.
