The Internet Saves
by anglise inreplying to a thread lower down made me wonder how did those who left the org years ago cope.. today we have access to virtually all the information in the world via the internet, so its not hard to find others who have had the same experiences that you have and to learn from them.. but even just a few years ago this was almost impossible.. when we came into the org in the early 1980's we did reseach as far as we were able but didnt find much in our local library.. so we were caught!!!.
those leaving the org back then must have felt isolated and even more frustrated then we do today.. i can remember being told about protesters outside conventions etc and that you musnt read their placards or take their tracts, but obviously it was the only way they had to try and help those inside the org see the real truth.. surely the thought of such an isolated existence kept many from taking the final steps to freeing themselves.. can any here relate to that.. .

FLIP-FLOP RECORD FROM WTBTS?
by Focus inover the next few days i shall be reviewing the flip-floppiness of god's (self-proclaimed) "only mouthpiece" and "sole visible organization", the watchtower.. one sees lists of these things; such are often woefully incomplete, thereby making the jehovah's witnesses look less unfavorable than they should... many previously thought that the record number of flip-flops were over the matter of whether the men of sodom (gen. 13-19) would or would not be resurrected - the wtbts changed its mind at least seven times on that one!
but i am pleased to tell you that that one (which i shall list in due course) was not a record!
here is one that beats it easily, for example.

Laughter Is The Best Medicine
by somebody in1898 "god .. evidently has been a respecter of races, and has specially blessed and favored certain branches of the aryan race in europe and america.. the white race has been more abundantly blessed with the light of the gospel than others .. the elect church will probably be composed chiefly of the highly favored white race.." {evol 30-1}.
1900 "there are probably as many as a hundred colored brethren on the watch tower lists, some of them very clear in the truth, and very earnest in its service, financially and other-wise .. [but they are not allowed to participate in the "pioneer work" as] although we have received letters from several of these, who had intended engaging in the volunteer work, expressing surprise that in the call for volunteers in the march 1, 1900 issue we restricted the inquiry to white protestant churches.
.. the reason is that so far as we are able to judge, colored people have less education than whites - many of them quite insufficient to permit them to profit by such reading as we have to give forth.
