Even stranger than drunken Noah - why did angels want sex with women?
by eyeslice inthis is a sort of parallel thread to the drunken noah thread.
the genesis account of angels 'materialising' and having sex with women always worried me as a witness.
in all animals, man included, the sex drive is hormonal.

Beatles or Rolling Stones Fan, which were/are you?
by eyeslice inperhaps you have to be one of those who grew up in the 60's to really appreciate this thread, but then my kids love 60's music too.
who did you think were the best, the beatles or the rolling stones?
is there a bit of a psychological angle here too?

Huge Assembly in Bangalore - is this exploitation?
by eyeslice inwhen the service began shortly after dark, official estimates placed the number of people who had already found their place in the vast area at more than 1.5 million.
as the 2,100-voice choir began to minister, the people kept streaming into the area, and by the time the service was less than an hour old, more than 2 million were lifting their hands and praising god.
benny hinn is currently in india preaching to hundreds of thousands of people.

What should we be teaching our Children?
by eyeslice indespite the lessons of thousands of years of human history, it seems that racial and religious hatred still dominates the thinking of many in this world.
the last century saw the holocaust and other atrocities of ww ii, rwanda, the killing fields, hindus against muslins during the partition of india, catholics against protestants in n. ireland, hatred by certain sections of the muslim world against the usa and list that goes on and on.
the hope i still have is that we can teach our children to think differently.

The Holocaust - do we need to know?
by eyeslice inthis week in uk, there starts a new 6 week series to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the liberation of auschwitz.

personally, i do not like cinema films about the holocaust and, therefore, have never watched things like shindler's list or the pianist.

Memorial Partakers - how many from 1935 are still alive?
by eyeslice inactuaries .
there has been a lot of debate about the number of memorial partakers staying around the 8,500 mark for years now, up by 5 this year, compared with the 11,000 or so that partook in 1935 when the heavenly calling was closed.. .
personally, i do not have the actuary skills to be able to work out how many who partook in 1935 are likely to still be alive to day.. .

Positive Islamic Thread
by eyeslice inthere has been a bit of stick about the negative comments about islam on this board, so i thought i would start a positive thread.. towards the end of the 90s, i lived for a year in an asian country with a population of over 100 million muslims.
all muslims i came across were honest, decent people.. a couple of years back, i went to work in iran for a couple of weeks.
as a result i had a couple days off at the weekend, which also happened to coincide with a public holiday.

Tsunami could have a negative backlash on sincere JWs
by eyeslice inthe horrific scenes from se asia we have seen on tv over the past week will have an effect one way or another on many jws.
yes, the hardliners will see this as a part of the prelude to armageddon; "famine and earthquakes in various places".
(mat 24) this sort mentally dismisses the unequalled loss of human life, reasoning that most of these would have died at armageddon anyway.
