  my wife excitedly told me that she talked to the wife of an elder that just came back from.

  the special training for elders in upper state new york and that the elders are being told .

  to go back to their congregations and to get them ready for the great tribulation.. i said to her that is great news !!!!

  How Can We Expose Child Abusers - Who Got Away with it as Witnesses ?

  i got the idea for this thread by talking with a friend this weekend who had been abused by a father when young.

  this person confronted this parent about it and got a very self righteous reply back from the offender.

  already a precedent for exposing the watchtower society has been set.

  Thank you for weighing in with the wife's point of view....................you said something which touched a nerve in me.............'waiting for bad peole to turn good and good people to turn bad'.

  I feel fake in a way even mentioning the abuse I suffered as a kid because it was physical and verbal as opposed to sexual, but that sentence brings tears to my eyes because I can so relate to it.

  So thanks again, you have aided me in my own personal learning process.

  I have been to Dubai on holiday twice and I love it. Yes it is pure over the top luxury but if you want to be spoilt then you definitely will be. I love the 'out there' approach to architecture displayed in Dubai. Everything that is done in the leisure industry there is done to the highest standards.

  As for poor working conditions; I have spoke to people who are working in the leisure industry who come from the countries mentioned and they come because they can earn more than they can in there own countries. They work solidly for long periods of time and then take a month or more off to go home. I am not saying that there have not been problems within the building industry with the labour force over working and pay conditions, but you do get those same problems all over the world.

  I get the gaping hole bit................mine is not so much a gaping hole as a hole............I had jwism from birth and when it is gone it is hard to know what you fill that with.

  People are people........I bet there are jws that loved you genuinely and still do, but there indoctrination prevents them from being true, fully functioning human beings..........they must be confused puddle ducks.

  Terry maybe you can relate to this.......I dont know.

  My mum left when I was 12. I saw her about once every 2 months for a couple of hour visits. My dad could be a very difficult man at times. Sometimes I struggle with my need to be loved by those who are difficult or withdrawn from me. I could probably explain that better but I know you will understand what it is I am saying about myself.......I can be drawn to those who in ways reject me because it feels familiar..........well thats what I think it is anyway. As I have become aware of my predisposition and I am at times able to be objective about it and recognise what I am doing. So for me sometimes the hole is not as straightforward as the jws.

  Anyway enough of that stuff...........I am not entirely comfortable putting my heart on my sleeve on an international discussion board........but I hope you understand why I am; and what it is I am trying to say.

  Hope you realise soon that it is there loss in losing you and get back to usual form..........God forbid

  i am a new to posting on this board though i have been actively reading your posts the past while and i thank some of you for the interesting viewpoints that you have verbalized and that i have enjoyed thinking on.

  i am still an active jw, in fact an elder of 20 years standing hence my need to limit information about my personal circumstances.

  i have served in a number of countries in europe as a pioneer and elder over the past three decades.

  i remember on my first of dozens of trips to europe, standing in line to board the ferry that crossed lake chiemsee to one of king ludwig's castles.

  though we were talking quietly, it became apparent that we were a couple of americans mixed in with the german majority.

  Why I will NEVER be an elder again

  so the po confirmed what many on this board already know.

  at latest round of co to elders meeting, the co quoted from the society outline.

  any elder or ms who encourages college for his kids or others or who allows his children to go to college will no longer qualify.. he then asked if i was going to take the cos encouragement and reach out again to be an elder and get my hours on the ministry up.. i replied "i will never be an elder again - i strongly approve of further education and college and have been through college myself.

  Why has every thread turned into an attack on HS?

  'Who are you' started the verbal attacks on HS on a previous thread and then restarted it here...............if he has met more than his match well that is not even unfortunate.

  Then every little worm seems to crawl out of the woodwork to jump on some kind of repressed peoples band wagon and start throwing in their ten penneth.

  Did I miss something..........does he have horns and 666 tattoed on his forehead..........yes he gives as good as he gets.......probably even better than most...........but most of the time if you read what he is saying it is usually pretty much spot on and not directed at any one indiviual.

  Just dont get into some school ground slanging match with him cus usually he is quicker and funnier than most.
