Whacky Witness Weirdness
by limbogirl inok, i'm sure all of us have met some incredibly bizarre jws over the years --- i have met some that could have been characters in a movie...just unbelievably weird.
i've shared some of my stories with a good friend (non jw) and she swears i'm making this stuff up.
how in the heck could i make these people up??

help! family mbr reading my 3 yr old My Book of Bible Stories
by limbogirl inmy soon to be three year old son asked me yesterday if i was dying.
i was shocked that he knew the word 'dying' and asked where he heard it.
he proceeded to tell me that his aunt (a jw) read him a story about jesus twiste (christ) and jesus was dying.

I'll just pick it up in the New System...
by limbogirl inmany years ago while driving with some jw friends in the car we stopped to get sodas.
one of the jw's finishes her soda, opens the car door and tosses out the can.
i was incredulous and said, "what are you doing?

Elder has Power of Attny for my Mother
by limbogirl inmy witness mother has a rare form of leukemia -- fortunately she is doing well and it hasn't been an issue yet.
she notified me some time ago that she had completed forms to make one of the elders at her kh her power of attorney in the event that she required medical treatment.
she told me that she did this to relieve me and my siblings of having to make difficult decisions for her at that time -- meaning authorizing blood.

random memory from district assembly
by limbogirl ini remember being at a district convention when three young mormon men came in and somehow ended up sitting next to me.
i was sitting with three of my girlfriends and although we were all 19 years old we had to sit within a row or two of our parents in order to be policed appropriately.
the assembly was a yawnfest as usual but the mormon guys showing up added a bit of interest -- i immediately picked up on the fact that they were there for laughs not because they had any interest in becoming jdubs.

JWs and the holidays at work
by limbogirl ini had lunch this week with some business colleagues and one of them complained that at her office there is now a "no merry christmas" policy which includes not saying merry christmas, not decorating the office for christmas, no christmas party, no secret santa games or exchanging of gifts.
i asked why all the rules and she said that there is one woman (out of nearly 150 employees) who is a jw and office management has decided the best way to handle the situation without excluding this woman or offending her in any way is to eliminate all reference to the holidays.
as you can imagine the other employees are in an uproar.

perspective on growing up in a jw family after i had my son
by limbogirl incurious to see if anyone else can relate to this....i've been away from jw-world for many years yet really began to have a lot of issues resurface for me when i became a parent two and a half years ago.
.........specifically, i began thinking a lot about my parents raising me and i'm just blown away at the way in which they chose to fill my head with jw teachings from such an early age.
i can't imagine ever teaching my little boy about wicked people, demons, satan, destruction at armageddon and so forth at such a young age.

Anyone ever go on one of those bus trips to bethel?
by limbogirl inback in the late eighties while still in high school instead of doing something fun for spring break i got an all expense paid trip to bethel.
on a bus no less with about 75 other jws headed to the promised land.
somewhere i still have a photo album filled with snapshots of the printing presses and all of the "cadets" happily churning out literature -- and of course all of the female cadets happily scrubbing toilets and doing laundry.
