I was baptized at 11 yrs old in 1986. It's not uncommon at all. Happens all the time.

The turning point of the apostate movement?
by undercover inis it possible that this "big news" could actually create a division amongst active apostates who are fighting to disrupt the wts?.
it seems that there are two factions regarding the "big news": one is jumping for joy, ready to spread the news far and wide, hoping for lawsuits; the other has poo-pooed the whole thing as overblown nothingness.
for the most part up til now, it's been us(ex-jws) vs them(the wts).

No such thing as a unified apostate body.
Exactly my point.

The thing is the definition of "apostate" is that we disagree with the WTS.
Apostate does not mean we have banded together, formed a new religion, follow one set of beliefs, preach those beliefs, etc.
Those of us that left might be opposed to any sort of "organization" whether is for or against a particular religion. There are those of us who just aren't interested in preaching anymore for any cause, any subject.
I'm in the group that I'm happy that I have found peace for myself, have answered my questions for myself, now work on having a nice happy life.

Journal of Church and State: WT NO-BLOOD EXPOSE'
by AndersonsInfo in(baylor university, waco, tx) an essay entitled, "jehovah's witnesses, blood transfusions, and the tort of misrepresentation," found in the autumn issue of baylor universitys prestigious journal of church and state, published december 13, 2005, exposes the vulnerability of jehovahs witnesses religious organization to massive claims for compensation because of the religions misrepresentation of the medical risks of blood transfusions.
this milestone essay critically examines one of the religions main publications for teaching their children and new recruits about their blood beliefs, how can blood save your life?
the peer-reviewed essay details many misrepresentations of medical facts, which the religion partly relies on to support its blood prohibition, thus denying its members from making fully informed medical decisions.

The more I think about this, the less I think it will affect the average JW.
Most JWs are so dumb-ed and so uninterested in fact-finding. Most JWs can't even explain their own doctrines or get into the real issues they believe in. They won't understand any of it. They just zone out at the Kingdom Hall, they trod along and place literature but as for real investigations into policy, doctrine.... naw, that's only apostates.

I was raised as JW.Baptized at 11 years of age to please my mom.
Decided at 19 that I didn't want to be a JW and quit going to all the meetings, did not associate with any JWs, started my own life. Went to college, got a job, got married, got divorced, moved out of the city that my mom lived in and really was doing my own thing.
Almost 6 years after I quit going to meetings I was disfellowshipped because I answered the phone to 2 elders who requested I go to a judicial committee meeting. When I refused they disfellowshipped me without ever meeting with me, without any evidence, based on my mother telling them I had a boyfriend. There was NO evidence of sin.
For the record, I was homeschooled, auxilliary and regular pioneered through all my teens and went to pioneer school. I wasn't your average slacker teen.
Edited to add: Once I was formally disfellowshipped my mother and aunts/cousins/uncles who I didn't have that much contact with to begin with, all quit talking to me. Once the elders place that "label" on you, it's over. In hindsight I should have fought it and made them prove their case, instead I just wanted to be left alone. For 6 years I had nothing to do with that religion and all of the sudden a 'label' changed who I was to them. Very sad indeed to punish someone for a promise made at 11 years of age.

THIS IS BIG NEWS and let me tell you because I WAS A BLOOD ISSUE BABY.
In 1974 my mother had been baptized only 2 1/2 months when I was born and the hospital wanted to give me blood. The elders talked to my newly baptized mother and even though there was a court order coming from a judge, she literally stole me out of the hospital and a Jehovah's Witness doctor cared for me while other Witnesses hid me in the attic of their home. We lived in that attic for 3 months until the court order ran out.
I survived and according to my mother her JW Doctor told her that "9 our of 10 babies die after a blood transfusion".... about 2 years ago I researched the America Pediatrics Associations information and found out the mortality rate during the 1970's for babies with the condition I had who were given blood was 1%. That is 1 out of 100 babies.... NOT THE FACT GIVEN TO MY MOTHER WHICH SHE STILL BELIEVES TO THIS DAY.
My father had NO say in this matter because she left the hospital and never informed him (not a JW) and didn't call him for 3 months afterward.
My mother was gulliable, was lied to, and followed what they told her..... and they MISREPRESENTED the facts. They told her statistics that weren't valid, told her that I would die, etc.
THINK ABOUT IT.

My friends experience at elder school
by Grouper ina friend of mind went to elder school recently and i convoy the following for him: .
the co asked him previously if he could assist with a demonstration showing the superiority of wtbts education to university education.
my friend holds a few masters' degrees and will be starting a phd program soon so the co thought he would be an excellent candidate to demonstrate the superiority of wtbts education, but there was a little problem my friend he said no.

For the record, my husband got his masters in electrical engineering and he is very honest about the fact it was sooooo difficult that he never partied, never drank, never dated, never got laid those entire 2 years. He went to class, studied, and worked on his graduate thesis.
Education actually reduces illegitimate sex, drugs, alcohol abuse in my opinion. I still attend university and my fellow student seem focused and working towards a goal. You don't have time to be partying. That is the minority. I agree witness kids party just as hard or harder than 1st year college students.

Bachelorette parties...
by Country Girl ini was wondering, besides a stripper, what games can be played at bachelorette parties?
my best friend is getting married in a few weeks, and i am the hostess of the bachelorette party.
we're not going out, so i was wondering what kinds of games we could play?

personally I don't care for male strippers, I think they are kinda tacky.
To me the most fun would be to make a really nice bar, get some great music and just let it be a drinking social event. Or you all could add in some Sex in the CIty episodes for fun.... play truth or dare, whatever.
Whenever the "girls" get together that I hang with we never have a lack of things to talk and laugh about until 2 am.... and we always seem to drink all the wine, vodkie, whatever is around.
