Do Jws really enjoy being Jws?
by haujobbz ini say this because half the witnesses i knew never seemed to be into answering at meetings, preaching the good news, being united with others.you see when i got baptised which was about 2 years ago i was really into answering at meetings, preaching etc and guess what people in the hall thought there was something wrong with me,they would say things like youll get used to it, you wont be happy much longer, this made confused because i thought these people were really into what they did with there hearts.i was obviously wrong,i then started to wonder does going to meetings, preaching, etc really show your a true christian you know serving god with a whole heart, all these organised rules didnt really matter i thought, you see if these people had do bible research, arrange the preaching themselves do you think they would do it.i now believe that serving god through organisations doesnt really make you closer to god i think serving god on your own really shows ones heart condition and how much you love god.
p.s.
im not a" jw no more" and still working out religion etc, i do swear and lie now though lol

by HaitianBoston inplease note.... i have said the watchtower, not his organisation?.

Tell my story? well, it's not spectacular, but I like talking about myself so here it is:
Well, I have been a witness for about seven years. I got in at seventeen, and blindly followed everything that I was taught. In all honesty I can say that I believed with all my heart and soul. After high school, I went to college, something the elders did _not_ approve of. And they approved even less about my chosen study - history.
I started thinking and doubting and somewhere I finally started thinking logically. One of the things that bothered me was "If Jehovah guides this organisation, why does he allow so many mistakes that put a stain on his holy name?" There is no logic to it. Reading Crisis of Conscience gave me the final shove to tell the elders of my dying faith. I have been excluded five months ago, and have honestly never been happier in my life.
The ability to just think for yourself the right and freedom to express your doubts, it is so precious. There is fault in every regime that uses mind control and / or censure, the organisation uses both.
It is good to be free.

Thanks Simon, for your nice welcome. By the way, I am a first day newbie, but how do I pull myself up the ranks? have been a rank and file member way too long soo...
Rosalyn, I have just changed my e-mail address myself, it's really easy. Just go to the link "profile" give your name and passport so that you will be identified. Then change your e-mail. In about two minutes you will get a message to your new e-mail address, with a link to re-activate. Will not even take five minutes, and you keep your name and password.

No, I don't love Jehovah anymore. If he is looking, why is he not acting? Unable or unwilling, in the first case he is not omnipotent, in the latter he is malevolent.
No, I do not love man-made organisations, nor do I love the Watchtower, it's only goal is to keep you silent and obedient.
No more.

the ultimate "Question Box" question
by lastcall injuly 2002 question box : " what should we bear in mind when using cellular telephones and electronic pagers?
this in my mind is the ultimate question in the sense that it really shows how rediculessly micro-managed we were in this religion.
disect this one for a moment.

O lord! I laughed so loud at this one. I read all your comments and just had to know what that article said, so I phoned my mum (JW) and asked her to read it to me, could not stop laughing...
Sheep eating their cellphones! Hahaha.

Hey everyone!
Sorry about a Dutch bit, rather rude of me not to translate.
Well, I am from the Netherlands, have been a witness for about seven years (got in at 17) and have been disfellowshipped five months ago. I have met just ONE ex-witness in all that time, and I would really like to meet more of you out there.
I have also decided of _not_ letting seven years of bible study according to JW go down the drain, and am therefore writing my masters thesis about JW. Really, the things I learn, part of me is still amazed at my own blindness at the time. So, you could say that I have truly turned into an apostate.
Feel free to e-mail me, and that also goes for you out there who are _not_ from this beautiful country called the Netherlands.

Hi!
Oh, wat leuk om Nederlands tegen te komen. Ik schrijf het, lees het en ben het. Is hier in Nederland ook zoiets als een bijeenkomst van ex-getuigen dat iemand weet?

Can owning/reading apostate material get me DF'ed?
by PandaJ inhello, first time poster, long time reader.. i was wondering just what my title asks.
if i own/read/admit to apostate material, can that get me df'ed?.
i know better then to admit that i believe the apostate material to the elders, or that i disagree with the society's teachings, but will simply admitting to owning and reading them get me df'ed?.

I got out of the organisation about 5 months ago. It was damn hard at first, my best friends shunning me was something I logically knew would happen, but it gave me great pain none the less.
The JW practically forbid you to think for yourself. And those who do, have to hide it, for you cannot openly discuss _anything_ when your a JW. It has been hard building up my life again, but is was worth it. Now I have freedom of thought and the freedom to express it. And isn't that the greatest gift any men can have?
Oh, and the elders did rebuke me for having and reading apostate material. When I said to them that finally I felt I had the freedom to think for myself, one of the elders said "that's a pity, cause naturally, you don't".
Good luck to you!

Thanks for your welcome. I am a definite newbie, signed up today.
I have been a witness for seven years, and have been in the real world again since last February.
I am enjoying life with much vigor. So much I have missed. Anyway, I look forward on visiting this site regularly, it helps a lot to read about others experiences.
