population post 2
by ballistic ini've posted several threads on population, a subject i find interesting.
i find it very thought provoking.
why would god choose to destroy wicked mankind just after a population explosion?

spring thing
by ballistic inthere was an illustration given in the "family" book on how to give your children more freedom as they grew up.
the illustration was of holding a spring in the palm of your hand.
if you were to suddenly release the spring, it would bounce off in every direction with no control what so ever.

The Truman Show
by ballistic ini think everyone who likes the truman show will like this link whether you are religious or not.
i am not religious but open minded.
when i first saw the truman show, i was struck by it's deeper under tones and the philosophical questions it raises.

A question about "being chosen"
by ballistic ini was pondering as i came across the phrase "3rd generation witness", and wondered what are the chances of god choosing so many people from one family to be his "special people".
if you think about it, there are only 6 million witnesses and 6.3 billion people worldwide, and yet god sees the right heart condition in all of the smith family, in fact all 4 generations of the smith family from crawley, england.. there surely can only be one of several reasons for this; either it is an amazing coincidence (which i think we can rule out), or people are genetically pre-disposed to being acceptable to god, or your up-bringing and education can change the person's "heart".. i think most witnesses if you ask them, would accept that it is the indoctrination from a young age that is the reason for whole families being chosen by god, but there is a problem with this.. firstly, people do not choose where they are born, whether they are born into a witness family and are likely to get this extra special training or whether they are one of the billions who live in china and have never seen a bible, let alone heard of the jehovah's witnesses.
surely if god is a fair god and believes in justice, every person would receive the same chance of survival, and the pattern of chosen people would, in fact, turn out to be a peppering of people from across society with similar distribution in each country and not large clusters within the same families in predominantly christain countries.. i think the society understand this problem and it shows in the way they over-emphasise the number of countries they are present in, counting small island chains as "countries" with just one or two special pioneers in an effort to boost the appearance of "world wide" activity.. a second question popped into my head (as they do) with regard to this.

This forum costs UK Businesses millions
by ballistic injehovahs-witness.com costs uk business millions .
the discussion forum jehovahs-witness.com known as "jwd" may diminish corporate productivity and network bandwidth, and be ultimately costing businesses a conservative 5,000,000 a week due to employees watching the 24-hour hot debate, flame wars and meaningless fluff through their workplace networks.. an independent study recently discovered that more than 2 million unique visitors hit the "ex-witness" site during the last week, with huge surges in visitors occurring sporadically.
it is estimated the multi-million pound figure based on the average visitor spending 15 minutes per visit.

JW official web site article on molesters
by ballistic inthe following link takes you to the official jw site and an article about how the "organisation" treats wrong-doing.
i have pasted the relevant part about molestors here.. i'm suprised by the over-all dumbing-down of the offenses and particularly astonished by expressions such as "struggle to avoid repeating his sin" while it admits that "experience has shown that such an adult may well molest other children".. http://www.watchtower.org/library/w/1997/1/1/article_01.htm.
what of a child molester?.
