This is nothing to do with JWs, but it is a true story.

One time I was with a few other mothers walking with our primary school children to the school bus. The children were in front, with the mothers following just behind them. One little girl had her underpants fall to her ankles. She just kicked them aside, and carried on unconcernedly walking and talking with her friends, while the red-faced mother scooped the offending undies into her bag and raced home to get some new ones.

Did that little girl show poise? How would we adults react to such an embarrassing event?

It's not a problem if you don't wear underpants.

The little girl is a first class lady in the making. She demonstrated incredible poise in what could have been a very embarassing situation.

That happened to me once Esther. I bent down and picked mine up and quickly stuffed them in my bag and kept walking. My girlfriends with me were so embarrassed and tried to now know me for a few minutes but I covered my embarrassment by laughing my head off. Mind you, when I got home I was so mortified.

A few weeks later there was a note in one of the magazines by someone who had seen it happen and who thought I was so cool.

What goes 'round comes 'round'. Was walking with one of those girlfriends another night, all dressed up to the 9's ..... and her half-slip elastic broke and to her feet it went. She stood stock still for a moment not knowing what to do and then looked at me and remembered .... and she too had a bag full of underwear

I wonder if it is an inborn instinct ?

    Hi Esther,

Yes....this little girl you write of has poise!!!!

I had a really embarrasing moment a year or so back....I caught a train to my local art supply store to purchase oils. I got off the train and walked to the lights and waited for the green walk signal.

As I walked across this WIDE road I felt my stay-up stocking start to slip....halfway across it slipped down....cars hooted....UGH...so I stopped in the middle of the road...slipped off my shoe....slid my hand up my skirt discreetly and removed the other....all with my head held high!!!!!

I got inside the art suppliers and blushed terribly.....I asked him for an extra bag!!!!

Yes I would say so, it reminds me of those Mentos commercials.. Unfortunately, the Church of Mentos site seems to be down, I think it had a lot of potential. Mentos, the freshmaker. Keeps you fresh and full of life. http://www.mentos.com/ (okay, so it's late)

I am happy to say I have never had that happen to me.

I do remember a friend telling me that her undies fell down as she was walking in the city. She just kicked them out of the way and kept on walking. Better her than me.
