United States Branch Committee?

I don't know how many others here have listened to the audio recording of the speaker linked to under the topic "JW Legal Dept. Speaks out," but if you did, you may have heard him mention the recent institution of a United States Branch Committee. (In addition to various things about the new corporations and the practice of answering the phones at headquarters with "Jehovah's Witnesses" instead of "Watchtower.")

What is the purpose of having a separate branch committee for this country? Is there really so much work to be done that it can't continue to be done under the auspices of the regular headquarters staff, or is this potentially another way to deflect legal responsibility in case of lawsuits? Any thoughts?

And does anybody know who the members of the committee are going to be?

Technically speaking thtere has always been a United States branch. This is nothing all that new unless they have actually created a branch Committee.

For years the WT Farms served as the Branch office ..it was then later switched to Patterson.

Don't necessarily see it as a legal move, however. Taking the GB out of the picture organizationally is however a legal CYA manouevre.
