God's Wife

  According to scripture, God has a wife -Israel. He is her husband/husbandly owner.

  The nation was cast off but Jehovah said he would never leave Israel. That being said, Jesus spoke of Israel as a spiritual nation and the 144,000 to be picked from both Israel and the nations (to fulfill the number) who were to be king priests with Him. So if Jehovah was speaking about the spiritual Israel, not the earthly nation of Israel, who does the 144,000 spiritual Israelites belong to?

  Not relating to the number ( be it literal or not) just the idea behind it all.....

  Any ideas??

  You just answered your own question. Israel is still said to have God's favor, except now Gentiles are grafted in, not exclusively Israelites by birth.

  i would be very slightly interested where it says in the bible about the 144k also coming from the nations.

  Stan: many places - but only part would -- Paul, Barnabas and Peter were prophets to the nations:

  Acts 9:15 13:46,47 14:27 15:7-9,12,17,19 there are more but it gives you some info

  Also in Old Testament Jeremiah 1:5 - he was foreordained to be prophet to the nations

  The full number to come in from both Israel and nations is told at Romans 11:25-- the whole chapter 11 is very interesting

  Of course, before Israel was a "nation", Yahweh had Asherah as his wife.

  Don't forget about God's first wife, Ashera. Did God divorce Ashera to marry Israel? If so, according to Jesus (Luke 16:18), if a man divorces his wife and marries another, he commits adultery.
