It looks like I have one new PM but when I click on the green envelope it takes me to an empty Inbox.
Is there a trick to be able to see your PMs?

It's probably that there was a spamming PM that you received but was deleted before you opened it

My little green envelope always says 2. If it says three, there is a message there to be read. I'll send you one. Let's see how it does.
