I spent a nice week in Staffordshire in 2000. We stayed at Tixall Gatehouse which is just 2 miles from Millford and maybe 5 miles from Stafford. I loved staying at the place where Mary Queen of Scots was held temporarily and where every day the cattle came right to the house on their way grazing from pasture to pasture (this was before hoof and mouth).
