The dignity of a man

On the BBC "outlook" radio program this evening 5th July I heard a heart warming account of young man in South Africa who had been a goat herder and used the tiny 'wage' he received to save up and finally achieve what he wanted more than anything else. An education. His family of 16 kids via his fathers 4 wives were so poor he could not get any schooling.

He got to school and went on in his education to matriculate to qualify for university. he gained a scholarship. He had never seen a city or a freeway and had some very big adjustments to make.

A long story but he eventually qualified in geology and now earning more than he ever dreamed ever possible and using his money and knowledge to build better homes for his family and people.

I had to reflect that if he had become a jw this education would have been denied him or he would have been made feel bad for doing it. I was so touched by this story from the BBC I had to share it with you.
