If the governing body say its the correct date then its the correct date (even if they moved it to June with some New Light sprinkled on for good measure) Dont question it

QB see if the article touches on the fact that Mark says Jesus ate the passover meal, and died around 9AM in the morning after, and John says Jesus died some time after Noon on the day of Preperation for the Passover.

At least 18 hours (and a different calendar date !) disparity here, and yet the WT makes such a fuss about "celebrating" at the right time.

What time would that be then? on what day ?

According to Internet reports, New moon was visible across Israel this evening, Monday March 31.

    GB gets it wrong again.

    George

    That's hysterical!

The GB devotes a big section in the study WT about how oh so careful they are to get the date right...and why April 1 of 2014 HAS TO BE Nisan 1, and it just simply CAN'T BE March 31....

And you can prove them completely & utterly wrong with one click to an internet site!

    Priceless!

Really, when Jesus said to "keep doing this", he didn't say when to do it. The WTBTS makes such a big deal out of the DATE like it really matters.

    just saying!

Could someone give us a succinct version of the JW way of calculating the date , please ?

I am going to make up a little info sheet to hand to JW's to show them as simply, and in as few words as possible, that they are celebrating on the wrong evening, according to the WT itself !

    *** w90 2/15 p. 15 par. 25 From Seder to Salvation ***

"The Governing Body of Jehovah’s Witnesses establishes the date for the Lord’s Evening Meal in line with the ancient method. Nisan 1 is determined by when the new moon nearest the spring equinox can likely be observed at sunset in Jerusalem. Counting 14 days from that brings one to Nisan 14, which usually corresponds to the day of the full moon. (See The Watchtower of June 15, 1977, pages 383-4.)"

Overkill, I know, but FWIW, another chart:

    IMAGE: http://i1175.photobucket.com/albums/r632/AnnOMaly/Nisan%202014/NewMooncrescentvisibilityNisan2014_crescentmoonwatch_zpseedd91de.jpg

Israel fell into the orange area which, according to the legend, meant the March 31 crescent was "visible to the naked eye under perfect conditions." This chart probably wouldn't have been available to the researchers at the Writing Department when the article was put together, but a pdf showing new crescent visibility in Mecca (slightly east of Jerusalem in longitude) would have been available from the same astro.ukho.gov.uk site.
