Dubs & all religions pracitce exclusivity & forms of shunning in some form, why?

The "Tribal Theory", as I call it, could explain some reasons why religions & other groups practice shunning.

The basic theory says: Early man formed in groups for survival. These clans or tribes had need for a strong leader & any challange to that leadership, if not checked early, was a threat to the unity, & therefor, the survival of the group, the old "safety in numbers" thing.
To be put out of the group was tantamount to death.

I know this is nothing new, but any thoughts?

The practice ranges from denying the sacrament to stoning to death. The WTS has strong sentiments in favor of stoning.

The THREAT of disfellowshipping is for control.
The INTENT of disfellowshipping is death.

yeah!! remember one elder on a dfing committee - not mine- told their "victim"....

"you should remember that in ancient israel, god would have had you stoned to death, instead of just being disfellowshipped."

i told the other other elders that this guys was no more than a spiritual thug!!!!!!!
