Since last week JWs have been presented with study material which slyly revises the history of the Watchtower organization through omission and twisting of history. Among the tactics is clever wording to draw parallels between JW practices today and supposed true servants of God in the past in order to justify current policy. For instance presenting as fact that there was a defined Governing Body operating in ancient times.

Pa1: " DURING a milestone governing body meeting in Jerusalem in 49 C.E., the disciple James said: “Symeon [Peter] has related thoroughly how God for the first time turned his attention to the nations to take out of them a people for his name."

Please note that Witnesses will NEVER be directed to compare much of what they used to believe vs what is now believed.

Paragraph 17 struck me in the study article for today. Notice that witnesses aren't directed to do real digging to find the roots of the organisation and it's plethora of policy / doctrine changes throughout the years. They are instead directed to the heavily sanitized Faith in Action videos.

Par2: "Much more could be said about the true teachings we embrace, our experiences as God’s servants, and the spiritual and material blessings we enjoy. For decades, our Yearbooks have contained thrilling accounts of our activities in lands around the globe. Our history is recounted in the videos Faith in Action, Parts 1 and 2, and in such publications as Jehovah’s Witnesses—Proclaimers of God’s Kingdom. And our magazines often contain heartwarming first-person accounts about beloved fellow believers."

These videos would be great to deconstruct. I cannot find the transcripts for Volume 1 anywhere. Great points JW07! I noticed the same thing. The whole current WT mag is riddled with lies. What the heck does a " balanced " look at JW history mean?

Hopefully those of the conscious class will be moved to leave after reading these new articles.

It is an irrefutable fact that very, very few people bother to personally research the developmental and more recent histories of their church or religion. People just don't do it and fear of the consequences is probably the least of their reasons.

Just as they base their acceptance of Scripture on faith, so too do they based their acceptance of their "modern-day" history on faith.

That and, it's part of human nature to want to cuddle up to some belief from time to time. Also, people lack good critical thinking skills. Which gets back to the issue of education: the less, the better for a JW. And if they do need education, it's suggested they do something vocational such as a trade. You are not exposed to critical thinking skills in a trade because you don't need them to do your job. Schools however, are encouraging more and more critical thinking, at least in my country. They are encouraged to study history and learn to interpret it themselves. This is something an old hide-bound JW will never do, and not something your average Joe will be good at, but at least the C2C curriculum changes in Australia will help kids grow up to be able to detect bs better.

This way their revisionist history wont be revealed. Thats why the jw.org library only goes back to 2000, and the wtlib only goes back, the WT to 1950 and the Awake to 1970. Text dosent take up much disk space, why not have all WT on there? Because then it would be too easy to expose. Who actually has bound volumes from before 1950, and if you get them on an onine archive site JWs are trained to discredit anything like the unbelievable older quotes as an apostate forgery.

They want to pick and choose what to share in the, " From Our Archives " section. Seeing as how they have access to the archives, they know d*** well what's in them. Hence, revisionist history and a strict control of information coupled with a steady stream of mis-information. Any transparency would result in all but the most indoctrinated leaving and taking their money with them.
