Hey! I just read the Watchtower for September 15 and learned that
Momentous events are soon to take place.
EARTHSHAKING events will soon occur. The fulfillment of Bible prophecies confirms this fact, so we need to keep on the watch.
I'm joining before it's too late!
Have they ever said anything like this before?

They have said things like this for the past 130 years ,nothing new,just trying to stir up enthusiasm when it`s evident that the faithfull are slackening off.eg:memorial attendance down,feild service down,meeting attendance down,attendance at conventions/assemblys down,baptisms down,jw`s leaving the fold up,elders/ms leaving up,more and more jw`s being influenced by the w.w.web.up, bottom line they are losing control,so instill the fear of GOD in them.

I thought they were cracking down on earthshaking events, what with the recent Watchtower railing against non-missionary position sex.

yes, as sure as night follows day, there is bound to be some sort of 'earth shattering event' in the next few years that they can suddenly point to. This will serve to keep the sheeples docile for longer.
If 9/11 wasn't earthshaking enough what will be? Obviously that event didn't bring armageddon 'soon'.
what a bunch of scaremongering bastards the watchtower are, such tactics are designed to keep the sheeple in and bring back those that have left but are still mentally 'in' no doubt.

9/11: Acts of terrorism motivated by religion. Surely when those got out of hand the U.N. would have to step in and ban religion.

Does this mean that the year 1975 will bring the battle of Armageddon? No one can say with certainty what any particular year will bring. Jesus said: "Concerning that day or the hour nobody knows." (Mark 13:32) Sufficient is it for God's servants to know for a certainty that, for this system under Satan, time is running out rapidly. How foolish a person would be not to be awake and alert to the limited time remaining, to the earthshaking events soon to take place, and to the need to work out one's salvation!
