    Hey my friends,

I'm a single guy and my head is gonna explode if I don't take a short vacation. Atlantic City is not a terrible drive for me and I have never been. Any of you ever been? I am up for all sorts of fun and debauchery. Any suggestions would be great.

    Thanks

I've been there for assemblies and later rock concerts. If you like to gamble, maybe you would like it. It does not have Vegas acts. I'd call it a more imitation. If you drive a few hours more, you are in Manhattan, where you can access world class entertainment. The Jersey shore, once so beautiful, is ugly. It is all right to day trips but I would spend vacation dollars in so many better places in the same area.

Gambling is the determinant. Cape May is awesome. Philadelphia is close to AC. If you like action other than gambling, NY is hot as anytihng.

If you want a list of fun things in NYC, that are not touristy, places resides frequent PM me.

I used to see James Bond films where he is gambling in Monaco. Atlantic City is a bunch of ordinary people gambling in closed, dark rooms. I saw no cashmere sweaters and pearls. No men in dinner jackets. It is McDonald's.

    You may have different taste.

Thanks BOTR sounds like it might just be a little dirty. I know NYC inside and out, looking for something different without having to get on a plane tho. Never been a gamblin man, but figured I might try if I can stay withing a budget.

Also as big as NYC is, I run into so many people I know (JW's, bethelites from the past) that it annoys the hell out of me.

What about Bear Mountain? I love West Point area and Hyde Park. The whole Knickerbocker area. What about hiking the Pine Barrens in Jersey? Trails are listed on the Internet. Adirondacks are too far?

Woodstock, NY and area is nice.

So many times I have run into people in Manhattan. Later, I figured out the odds of my brother, underground for years, and I being on the same subway platform at the same time. Very eerie. I'm not talking about neighborhood or work friends. People detached from your daily routine. I would hear the Twilight Zone in my dream.

When I was a lawyer with an elite, powerful law firm I thought I was safe outside the Financial District. I would act sort of goofy compared to normal. You don't know how many times I looked up when I was fooling around to find a partner's face. They said hello. I said hello back. There should be a cowbell rule for employers.

Hiking is a great idea, I could even take the dog. That might be worth a shot. Woodstock is great but, of course, I have an ex-bethelite friend who lives there... Can't escape the bastards... If only I could convince them the truth about "the truth" my life would be so much easier.

If I didn't care about being df'd life would be much easier too. Maybe one day.

Hi! I have been. If you go, I wouldn't plan on staying there for any length of time though. There are casinos which are the main attraction, as well as the boardwalk on the beach, but besides that not too much else. One interesting aspect about Atlantic City is the fact that the streets, water company and electric company on the Monopoly Game were named after actual streets and businesses there, so if you want to explore and see what Marvin Gardens, Baltic Ave, etc. actually look like you have that option, But BEWARE if you do. Only take a taxi, and watch your back as there are a lot of not so nice ghettoey areas in AC, and with it comes lots of robberies, etc. Stay on the beaten path though and you should be fine.

A funny story. The last time my friend and I went, we spent some time on the boardwalk. There were lots of yummy treats being sold, salt water taffy, candy apples, typical carnival fare. In the candy shop, I saw some nice chocolate truffles. I bought a few, and as we were walking I decided to have one. I bit into it, and felt something strange brush my mustache. I thought to myself WTF? but didn't think too much about it. As I was chewing, savoring the unique flavor, I look down at the remaining half truffle in my fingers only to find a HALF of a worm squiggling inside of it! As I started gagging, I threw down the rest of the truffle as I ran to a garbage can to spit out the remainders of the worm infused, chocolatey morsel. My friend could have peed himself from laughing so hard. That was my final memory of Atlantic City!

Personally, I would try to find some other places in the area to visit. I would much rather go to the North Shore of Mass. Marblehead, MA is a nice, quaint town, and just a short drive from that is Salem, MA and other scenic, historic and fun filled towns.

If you do decide on AC, have fun, be safe, and DON'T eat the Truffles!!!

Ex360shipper: What's up brother. Gambling is what my wife and I do but there are other activities like shows where you can take a date. There should be some special events trolley tours, concerts, rodeo, coming at end of march. Sometimes the casino's have shows which features comedians and live concerts.
