How long before the Society Bans members from you tube? Like they did myspace. It's true they didn't outright ban it, but they heavily implied it was bad. I see the same coming about you tube. To much "dangerous" information there. Sorry if this has already been discussed. If so I must have missed it. seek2find

I had the same thought today Seek, some of the stuff that JWD members are putting on You tube is AWESOME!

I just hope that Legal has to water down the message so much that hardly any Dub. gets it,a bit like a special (local?) needs talk we had at our Congo. some years ago, everybody afterwards was like "WTF was that about?"

Anyway keep it up folks, you're doing a GREAT job!

The videos posted in the last couple of days got me to thinking it might be soon. Like the video of the guy named Brian in Connecticut who disassociated after some time being a JW apologist. And the one yesterday by the Band in New Orleans that did the music video about life in Paradise Earth. Even the positive videos I'm sure the Society frowns on. Remember the music disk that was being distributed a few years back that contained Kingdom songs preformed by modern artist and then an article came out in the KM that said the organization "did not approve" of them. They don't want the witnesses getting any spiritual encouragement or motivation anywhere except from them. They want complete control. Just like Warren Jeffs and Jim Jones seek2find

I didnt know the friends were allowed to have computers and surf the net.

If they were allowed to surf the net, they would have to be really stupid to be a JW.

I hate to break it to you guys...but ALL internet sites were banned when the Sept. 2007 KM came out (i think that was it)...it said that WT does not "endorse" any websites they do not produce....if you do not endorse it...you do not aprrove...if you do not approve...good dubs consider it banned.................oompa

I reckon youtube could be a huge proble. 6 months ago I had seen most JW videos. Now there is no way I can keep up with the content!

They don't need to explicitly ban YouTube. They already have the rules in place. YouTube has numerous porn videos (though they are flagged as such), and they have religious instruction that does not come from the Filthful and Disgraceful Slavebugger (including apostate videos). Both of which are banned.

However, they might decide to crack down on all similar sites. They might ban all forums (you cannot be a member of any online discussion forum), video sharing sites (of any kind, including YouTube, Google, the porn sites, or Yahoo), or networking sites. And those P2P file swapping services. Anything that makes it possible for the witlesses to network together and discuss questionable material behind the hounders' back will be hit with such a ban. And that would include services that have yet to come out. I feel that it's only a matter of time before an a$$embly or a Kool-Aid washtowel explicitly bans all networking sites or video sharing sites of any kind.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's tackled more indirectly rather than directly. Remember how the Sept 07 KM took on the subject on independent Bible study? I expect the same here. It would be an indirect subtlety worded message that didn't come out and condemn you-tube directly. Maybe in an article like "How do you spend your time?" In which the "dangers" of "spending excessive amounts of time" online and engaging in "creating videos" would be mentioned. Might even be incorporated in a meeting part or an assembly demonstration. I feel that all such efforts will be futile because the first place doubters are going to go for answers will be the internet. The Watchtower, as we no it, its days are numbered. seek2find
