I have had a PM from a newbie who needs clarification regarding what I have read here - that at the circuit assembly there is some talk of not associating or talking to inactive family members. I cant find the threads. Does anyone know anything ?
Does anyone have info 1st or 2nd hand on the new policy re inactive ones?

There was some talk a couple of years ago that the long time inactive ones were to be declared disassociated but I think that never happened. However from what I read here the inactive ones are unofficially treated as DAed or at least as marked.

I can definitely confirm that JWs 'don't like' the 'inactives' and I don't think it's just jealousy of our mental freedom either that makes them act so bizarrely.
I have also read the thread on the instructions from the Circuit Assembly and will look back over past posts to find it.

I remember that thread. I think the general consensus was that it was something the speaker said but wasn't necessarily new dogma from Brooklyn. If there was new real light on the inactive ones it would be in questions from readers.
Also, my personal expierance has shown me that JWs for the most part treat inactive ones like they are DF'ed. They may say hello and give a friendly conversation, but that's about it. Other than that it's business as usual. I don't think the WTS has to make a new policy on what they JWs allready do.

Hi Crumpet,
I still go to the meetings and assemblies, I haven't heard anything like this. Haven't heard anyone talking about it either.
Doesn't appear to be true. Hope that helps.

This thread: http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/10/117401/1.ashx may be related. They never state that the loved one has to be DF'd or DA'd for this article to apply.. in fact they kind of leave it to the reader to decide who has "left" Jah. It could easily be applied to faders or "inactive" ones.

Death to the Pixies
"Are you acquainted with anyone who has become inactive? Perhaps he has stopped associating with the congregation and has drifted away. You may have contacted such a person while engaging in the ministry. We must keep in mind that the individual continues to be our spiritual brother....... A brief telephone call or visit may assure one who has become inactive that we have not forgotten him. We may be encouraging by simply letting the person know we are thinking of him.......... " (Feb. 07 KM)
Sounds like a bad rumor , the exact opposite approach of "shunning" inactive ones has been pushed at meetings. So in less someone presents something explicit that contradicts this, we should let this dream go gang..

Thanks, pixies, for posting that. That seems more in line with what past comments in the publications have said. There is no suggestion that you socialize with them though, but only encourage them "spiritually."
This is the season to make the big push to get the inactive to the memorial, another annual event.
