I forgot how ridiculously fictional and manipulative this drama was until I just typed up these notes:

    SCENE:

    Decision - pioneering vs. education
Opening scene with a young one and TImothy.
Julius accused of brown-nosing Timothy by his friends.
Timothy counsels Julius on peer pressure (i.e. education, chicks)
Timothy relates in flashback how he made the truth his own (20 years earlier)
How he faced up to his unbelieveing father and chose the ministry over education.

SCENE: Paul & Barnabas at Timothy's mom's house.

Mom is tending to Paul's wounds from a stoning. Paul gives a pep talk. Paul talks about "no regrets" to Timothy. Talks about 13 year tour. Paul preaches, imitating Jesus to Timothy.

Paul says world seeks glory - like the athletes at the Greek Olympic races. But people don't remember who won Greek Olympic races.

Then Paul compared w/ glory of Samuel, Esther, etc. Both were devoted to God.

Paul and Barnabas leave, Jonathan enters. Timothy tells JOnathan how he has decided to go into the full-time ministry instead of going to university with Jonathan. He says he wants to be as happy as Paul. Jonathan tries pressuring him to change his mind. "What about the great opportunities?" Jonathan gives Timothy an ultimatum.

But Timothy says, "I can no longer ride on the faith of my mother."

Timothy's mom encourages him to talk to his unbelieving father about his goals. Dad listens, then disses Paul in front of Timothy, but then gives Timothy an opportunity to have part of the family business, "Use your talent to get ahead."

Timothy finally tells his dad what he really wants to do - no college - but instead, the ministry.

Dad freaks out. Timothy sad. Comforted by mom.

NEXT SCENE (2-3 yrs later, Timothy's father is dead.)
Mom gets food. Jonathan enters, back from college.Getting married. One on one talk with Timothy - Jonathan brags about Athens and what he has learned. Timothy brags about Iconium congregation. More pressure from Jonathan - to join him and Philetus in Ephesus. Timothy declines. Jonathan leaves - declining offer to chill with Paul and Barnabas for awhile. Jonathan shows Timothy a $$$-amount he could make - and Timothy is stunned. Paul and Silas enter, and others ... older ones evaluate Timothy's motives and end up inviting him to join in the missionary work. Mother and grandmother are also shown encouraging him.

    NEXT SCENE
Timothy is writing for Paul in ROME (writing book of Phillipians). Timothy says he feels unworthy of Paul's praise. Paul goes on about how great Timothy is - not worhtless - but loved.
Praised him for going against worldly father and best friend. Timothy says his best education has been in the ministry.

Romans suddenly burst in (complete with cheesy tension music) and threaten Paul and Timothy not to preach. Timothy and Paul say they are not afraid of persecution.

Timothy is disturbed about divisions in the congregations. Now he is assigned to Ephesus ... to help bros fight against materialism (the cong. Jonathan is in). Timothy leaves.

    NEXT SCENE

Timothy is reading. Jonathan comes in. He is married with 4 kids. They catch up on stuff. Philetus walks up - he helps many brothers in the hall to make a good living. Philetus, very condescendingly says, "Jonathan 'does what he can' with a family." Some general disdain from Phhiletus towards Paul. Timothy sticks up for him. Philetus goes on about nothing being wrong with worrying for a better life.

    Big argument.

Philetus says, "How can Paul counsel on money when he has none? How can he counsel on wife and kids when he has none?"

Philetus leaves, but jonathan and Timothy now argue. Tim counsels Jonathan to not squander his talents on a career. Jonathan starts to see - - but he is visibly confused. Philetus senses this and comes back and grabs Jonathan and escorts him away.

NEXT SCENE (Timothy speaking with Julius - wrap-up from the beginning of the drama)
Timothy finishing out the story in narrative: Says that 6 years later Philetus was disfellowshipped (WTF?) and gone. Jonathan enters, and everything is better. Jonathan is now serious about the "truth". JOnathan tells Timothy how blinded he was by delusions of grandeur, and thanks Timothy for helping him.

    what a load of crap!!

The society knows that the only part of a DC that young kids pay attention to is the drama. They're not just embellishing a real bible story but making one up entirely!!

I'm surprised Timothy didn't mention the three elders who sat in on the committe to df Philetus. All CRAP!!

I can only hope that this type of over the top talks and dramas will have a negative effect on my spouse.

Will you help clean up the mess I just made please!?...that was puke inducing....correct me if I am wrong but was that a subtle hint that if you pursue a worldly career you could end up disfellowshipped?

They won't give up with all the propaganda against education, what they don't say is that the pioneers will live in poverty and in their final years they will be abandoned by the GB like squeezed oranges.

    What a load of crap?

That explains why my wife came home and decided that once again she'd put off going to school and working on that degree.

That has got to be the biggest pile of bullshit I think I've ever heard, non based upon any story I read in the Bible.
