    Hello all.

I was hoping a few of you would do me a favour. A local news editor has asked me a question.

He has asked why is this UN/WTS story important to the local community?

I have given him some eight reasons. I am not going to provide them because it might influence your thoughts.

But I now would like to humbly ask you, all of you, to provide your thoughts to his question.

Feel free to offer anything. It might help get another newspaper interested in a time of war and terrorists.

Because there are JW's in each local community.

Because most people think that the JW's are just another religion that isn't anything big.

There are community members that have family that are JW's and are upset with being cut off from them. This gives them ammunition to argue with the JW's.

Some people in many local communities have the impression that JWs are zealous, benign and very honest Christians. However, it behooves everyone to know the full truth about the organization behind every organized proselytizing effort. Because JWs often manage to convert someone to their religion during a time of emotional crisis, which leads to a fairly long, and often painful sojourn in the JW organization, all people need to be fully informed about those apparently benign people who claim to bring such wonderful news to their door. Can a religious organization that is so blatantly hypocritical, so ready to sacrifice its own claimed ethics to the god of expediency, be something that a truly honest person would want to be involved with?

Do not know about local people, but my personal disappointment was deep. I did my time in prison for a cause that I was proud of even after being DF'f 30 years ago. Few years after us JW's were exempted and I felt proud as this was because our determination.

To me this WTS/UN was scandalous and I feel betrayed after all these years. The whole thing may well surpass several earlier blunders put together.

Funny enough - I take it as a personal insult. I did accept the terms then and believed in the Scriptures and logically did not expect any major changes. Changes came along but this alone would have been the limit.

    Hi Hawkaw,

there is one point I want to highlight:

This matter IS important cause it made the WTBTS lie in only 2 weeks.

In GB an official statement says it was for getting a library card.

In Portugal the WTBTS Spokesman says it was for helping with human rights in 3rd world countries, and the same branch wrote a letter to a brother after 1 month waiting making the same statement.

The austrian branch said, that issue is all nonsense cause the only involvement that had been there was a unique invitation to a conference of the UN.

So it is important AT LEAST because a well known relious org is telling lies all over the world about this issue.

    Happy Day!!

good question, but it may mean nothing to the community except to reveal that JWs are no better or different than ANY other "religion" and there may be some one in the vast population who has family considering joining this KULT.
so to expose the hypocrosy of the wbts( the higher ups especially) it may help a non-jw "save" a person from getting sucked in.
I have to tell an experience i had today though. for the first time in 4 1/2 years a car group pulled up to my home. well, i knew what was coming and only had a few seconds to formulate some ??? i wanted to pose. the older lady(70 maybe?) was as sweet as could be and happened to know my hubby's family years ago. any how she asked the question that we had all been trained to ask..."what could make the world better..blah blah blah"
i of course replied my answer"jesus", but that did not flap her at all....told her i used to be a witness...never fazed her( proves she was not really listening to me, but recalling to mind her next sentence) i then asked her about the wbts being involved with the un....she shook her head and said it was NOT true, they would never do that..i replied i had proof...but she continued to drag out the mags...i politly refussed them....she left.
i have to say i just wanted to hug her and tell her she was so lied to and serving this evil org....i could have cried. i could tell she was a loving kind person, and will die never knowing the lies heaped upon the backs of others like her.
how sad...my mom was like her too...faithful to the bitter end....and leaving this world with no guarantee of ressurection
how can these GB guys sleep at night? how can we reach these ppl.
i was profoundly affected today because these ppl are being led off to hell, thinking they are paradise bound..
    just some thoughts and such

    A big one.

Because many of us want to leave it, but can't. It's destroying our life, but we can't. They won't let us leave. Unless we are prepared to sacrifice everything that means something to us. Unless we are willing to leave behind all our family who will shun us for the rest of our lives. Unless we are willing to be publicly slandered and be disposed of by everyone we grew up with, we can't.

But we want to. We want OUT. And exposing the Watchtower will cause her to fall, and then we will have our out.

And all the future people who would have been indoctrinated by this cult, they too will be free. Free to think, free to talk, free to live.

The UN scandal matters to me for several reasons. One: if one of the lay people had allied themselves with a governmental agency for any reason (even to save their own life i.e., the brothers of Malawi), they would have been disfellowshipped. That is a blatant double standard.
Two: why were the lay people not informed of their alliance with the UN? We can only guess that it is because they have, for years, since its inception decried the UN as the Beast of Revelation. Any religious organization using the UN to further their agendas was likened to a harlot on the back of said beast. However, this does not apply to the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society? Why? How can that be?
Three: They just lied. Or at least witheld information. Lay people have been disfellowshipped for "covering over sin" or not revealing wrong doing. Should the corporation be held to different standards? If so, why? This organization demands total obedience from its adherants, even to death if called for. Should an organization who has been caught in dishonesty be entrusted with yours or your children's life?
Four: I simply want the UN and governments to know how they are being portrayed in the literature of Jehovah's Witnesses. I have no problem with them existing as a religion, a corporation or a group. I DO, however wish to see them kept honest. Their lay people are HIGHLY discouraged from asking questions or becoming educated about anything outside the organization. I would like to see the media pick this up, so that these silent prisoners of conscience can privately obtain this information. What each one does with it, would be their choice, but please, let a little light in on it.
    My two cents,
    B.

Because we don't have a Better Business Bureau for religions. And because this religion does not provide "full disclosure" to its prospective recruits so they end up in the shoes of people like Biblexaminer. The ones who have left or want to leave are undergoing blackmail. This religion is unethical and the community needs to be informed. So anyone who has any desire to join will have full disclosure about the religion DESPITE the WTS and not BECAUSE OF IT.

If we found out that the JW's sacrificed animals at their Kindumb Hells it would be newsworthy. Well WE KNOW that they sacrifice children ... isn't this newsworthy?

WTS applyed for a membership in a government sponsored agency, while not allowing there own membership to do the same.In some country`s this has resulted in prison sentences or execution. The same organisation, sends people door to door,to threatin the lives of people in the name of this organisation. The newspaper has the opportunity to expose this DANGEROUS CULT in their community. It would be a public service!
