When I was in the "truth" all the WTS dates just were part of my everday thinking. Now that I have deprogrammed myself I can clearly see that I was part of an evil cult. Just thinking about those stinking dates makes me want to vomit

    1. 1914 end of gentile times and end of Christendom (Its still here)

    2. 1918 was when Jesus had an inspection tour of the Watchtower Society organization. Jesus approved and said "by gosh I can't think of a better bunch to represent me"

    3. 1919 was when Jesus approved of the "faithful and discreet slave" (formerly known as the faithful and wise servant) Jesus had alot of belongings including some posh ones in crooklyn .

    4. 1935 was when the door to heaven was closed forever. I did not know that heaven had a door and why was it closed in 1935? There is no scriptural support for that.

Sprinkled in between these dates are others, such as the dates of the Cedar Point Ohio conventions where Rutherford claims the dates of the these conventions fulfilled bible prophecy. This is of course hogwash and only proves that Rutherford was a mad egomaniac bent on elevating himself to prophet status.

These are only a few dates that the WTS can't change. They are set in stone forever and ever. It is these dates and others that are destabilizing the WTS and cracking it's foundation. (example: generation change in 1995) I wish Jehovah's Witnesses would wake up and see that the WTS are a bunch of evil lying bastards with the intent of world domination by cultism.

No argument fro me there, Cultswatter. The longer I am away from the org, the more I realise the truth of that statement.

As for those dates, they once made perfect sense to me due to the mental fog I was in as a jw, but they just seem so meaningless now. They have to cling on to them though, despite the overwhelming historical evidence regarding the destruction of Jerusalem by the Babylonians being 586/587 rather than 607, which it would have to be to make 1914 several other dates viable in the jws eyes. I suspect there would be a lot more leaving than there are now if they ever changed those dates.

According to the Public Library, ALL the books on Cults have a section about Jehovah's witnesses! And I've read them all!

Yes and all the commercial bookstores too

Jehovah's Witnesses are an oppressive fraud for God cult. The Watchtower is a total ripoff, their core doctrine is that Jesus ALREADY had his second coming in 1914 and made them da boss.

The Watchtower is a carnal cult of da flesh

They appear in the cults section here as well, they are very well represented.

We were looking on the Rick Ross site earlier, and there's a big section on jws there, along with all the other cults. Their section is bigger than most.

Danny, you are one of my heroes.

As far as the jw being a cult, there's zero doubt about this fact in my mind. The leaders claim to represent the creator of all things, a person they disrespectfully refer to by what they believe is its first name, Jehovah, and yet when questioned, they vehemently deny they are prophets. They boldly challenge everyone from every other religion to dissect their beliefs to see if they can pass the litmus test of truth while threatening any of their supposed brethren with ex-communication if they even show an interest in attempting the same.

They claim to the governments that they don't sell their literature, yet they have their circuit and district overseers hound the congregations for donations. Their primary tactic of motivation isn't love and empowerment, but fear and the threat of abandonment. They teach husbands to treat their wives like posessions and they teach their kids to sacrifice their childhoods and dreams on the altar of kingdom interests. They mandate that all who follow their dysfunctional teachings play Russian roulette with their lives with regards to blood transfusions. They subtly teach their members to be bigots and self-righteous, insinuating that all people who serve God apart from their Patriarchal organization are evil servants of God's greatest enemy.

Their teachings are destructive and their forced adherance criminal.

And here's a great website that documents their tactics and how to detect what they are: http://www.workingpsychology.com/cultdef.html

It shows how they affect their recruits:

Personality changes: Do you find yourself saying, "He's a different person," or, "I don't know her anymore"? Destructive cults successfully replace their members' personalities with new identities.
2Dramatic shifts of values or beliefs: Of course, values and beliefs change gradually over a lifetime--but psychological research has shown that beliefs and values are highly resistant to dramatic short-term change. Such radical changes require extreme situational influences such as those provided by skilled cult leaders.
3Changes in diet or sleep patterns: Cults will often restrict the diet and sleep of members, possibly in an effort to hamper normal, rational thought processing. In addition, the vegetarian diets commonly required by cult leaders allow the cults to feed members cheaply.
Refusal to attend important family events: Family members pose a strong threat to the influence of the cult. As such, many cults refuse to allow members to attend family events such as marriages, sick relatives, graduations, etc.
Inability to make decisions without consulting a cult leader or guru: One of the signs of dependency upon a cult leader is the loss of personal autonomy.
6Sudden use of a new ideology to explain everything: Like a harpist playing an instrument with a single string, a cult member uses his or her new ideology to explain the entire world--even when it's wildly inappropriate.
Black and white, simplistic reasoning: Underneath all the complicated jargon, you'll find a cult recruit dividing his or her world into 'good' and 'bad'. The shades of grey in which we all live are usually intolerable to a cult member.
New vocabulary: Is the person suddenly using complex jargon to obscure irrational or simplistic thinking? (Although this could merely be a sign of attending graduate school!)
9Insistence that you do what they are doing: Recruitment is one of the first duties a new cult member is given. It consolidates the recruits beliefs while it inflates the cult's ranks.

ALSO, examine how closely their behavior parallels that of an abusive spouse in abusive relationships at this website: http://www.helpguide.org/mental/domestic_violence_abuse_types_signs_causes_effects.htm#emotional

Verbal or nonverbal abuse of a spouse or intimate partner may include:

    • ******Threatening or intimidating to gain compliance.
    • Destruction of the victim’s personal property and possessions, or threats to do so.
    • Violence to an animal or object (such as a wall or piece of furniture) in the presence of their partner, as a way of instilling fear.
    • Yelling, screaming, name-calling.
    • *****(Shaming, mocking, or criticizing the victim, either alone or in front of others.
    • ******Possessiveness, isolation from friends and family.
    • ******Blaming the victim for how the abuser acts or feels.
    • ******Telling the victim that they are worthless on their own.
    • ******Making the victim feel that there is no way out of the relationship.

Stalkers employ a number of threatening tactics, including:

    • ******Making repeated phone calls, sometimes with hang-ups.
    • ******Following and tracking the victim (possibly even with a global positioning device).
    • ******Sending unwanted packages, cards, gifts, or letters.
    • ******Monitoring the victim’s phone calls or computer use.
    • Watching the victim with hidden cameras.
    • ******Contacting friends, family, co-workers, or neighbors for information about the victim.
    • Using public records, online searching, or paid investigators to find their victim.
    • ******Threatening to hurt the victim or their family, friends, or pets.
    • Going through the victim’s possessions or garbage.
    • Damaging the victim’s home, car, or other property.

What is spiritual abuse of a spouse or intimate partner?

    Spiritual abuse includes:

    • ******Using the spouse’s or intimate partner’s religious or spiritual beliefs to manipulate them.
    • ******Preventing the partner from practicing their religious or spiritual beliefs.
    • ******Ridiculing the other person’s religious or spiritual beliefs.
    • ******Forcing the children to be reared in a faith that the partner has not agreed to

    Signs of an Abusive Relationship

Your Partner’s Violent or Threatening Behavior

    Has your partner ever:

    • had a bad and unpredictable temper?
    • ******hurt you, or threatened to hurt or kill you?
    • ******threatened to take your children away, especially if you try to leave?
    • threatened to commit suicide, especially as a way of keeping you from leaving?
    • forced you to have sex when you didn’t want to?
    • destroyed your belongings or household objects?
    Your Partner’s Controlling Behavior

    Does your partner:

    • ******try to keep you from seeing your friends or family?
    • ******make you embarrassed to invite friends or family over to your house?
    • limit your access to money, the telephone, or the car?
    • ******act excessively jealous and possessive?
    • ******try to stop you from going where you want to go or doing what you want to do?
    • ******check up on you, including where you've been or who you've been with?
    Your Partner’s Belittlement of You

    Does your partner:

    • ******verbally abuse you?
    • ******humiliate or criticize you in front of others?
    • ******often ignore you or put down your opinions or contributions?
    • ******blame you for their own violent behavior?
    • ******objectify and disrespect those of your gender?
    • ******see you as property or a sex object, rather than as a person? (Are you property of the WTS ........Jehovah?

They are powerful predators..their followers their prey....

Until a smarter, wiser predator exposes them as such...then their followers will become their predators...and possibly free from predators..or prey to the exposing predator.

I cannot figure out how to tell which one.

Just came across this site: http://changingminds.org/techniques/cults/cult_methods.htm

Here is what it says about cult methods:

    Cult methods

    Techniques > Cult methods

Cults are famed for the control that they achieve over individuals, often more to consternation of their relatives than the people themselves, who are so taken in, they cannot see what is being done to them.

    Methods for attracting new members

    • The Love Bomb: Showering with love those who are starved of affection.
    • Persistence: Never taking their teeth out of their target members.
    Methods for converting members

Many of these seem negative in intent, which is why cults get a bad name. In practice, the sense of identity and acceptance that cults offer in return for obedience to (what most of would consider to be) harsh rules is actually an agreeable deal for many adherents.

Cults vary greatly in purpose and intensity, from power-trips of self-aggrandising charismatic leaders to quiet and genuine seekers after wisdom and peace. The trouble is, it can be difficult to tell which is which. A group of friends can act like a cult in some ways, as can any organization. The real test is in the amount of punishment, coercion and negative techniques that are used.

    Sound Familiar???

    Sincerely,

    Lady Liberty
