    Note, p. 164 -- almost near the end the book -- the F&DS class gets its first mention. Then it is mentioned again in p. 187 in the appeal: "Let us be determined never to give up assisting the 'faithful and discreet slave' ". This appeal contrasts with the description with Christendom two paragraphs earlier which uses two hackneyed "illustrations" that compares with Jesus' more intelligent illustrations: (1) Rather than describing Jesus' absence as like a master returning to see how much interest has accrued with his servants, or like the owner of a vineyard judging the work of his field servants, the Society uses the more childish illustration of a babysitter....Christendom has been a baaaaaad babysitter whereas the Society has been a very good one! Interesting what this tells you about the Society's conception of the "flock" (non-anointed JWs = children). (2) "This world system is like a house that is slated for demolition". Christendom has failed to warn people of the demolition whereas the F&DS class has faithfully done so. Not the best choice of illustrations -- what kind of unloving landowner would knowingly demolish a house with people inside?

    Many thanks to the "anonymous two" and to Atlantis...

    Page 167 of this book states that 77 represents an unlimited number.

    Does that lend credence to the WTBTS stating that 144,000 will also become an unlimited number? If not then the hypocrisy is amazing !

    The Watchtower Library says this...

    *** w97 12/1 p. 15 par. 1 ‘Continue Forgiving One Another Freely’ ***"I say to you, not, Up to seven times, but, Up to seventy-seven times"! (Matthew 18:22) The repetition of seven was equivalent to saying "indefinitely."

    These are the only two occurances of this that I can find... are there others ?

    Would the repition of 12 x 12000 in Revelation be the same ?

    21 Jesus never allowed people, even well-meaning friends, to stop him from obeying Jehovah. The apostle Peter, for instance, tried to persuade his Master that it was not necessary to suffer and die. Jesus firmly rejected Peter's well intentioned but misguided counsel that Jesus be kind to himself. (Matthew 16:21-23) Today, Jesus' followers often cope with well-meaning relatives who may try to dissuade them from obeying God's laws and principles. Like Jesus' first-century followers, we hold that "we must obey God as ruler rather than men." - Acts 5:29.

    12 = Complete....12 12's real complete....not an exact number, but a real complete one.

    We know that... but when will they

    if 70 + 7 = infinity.... then how can 12 x 12,000 be smaller than 70 + 7 (or indeed 70 x 7 as some translations say) ? 70 + 7 = 77 (yet unlimited) 12,000 x 12 = 144,000 (limited and fixed) ???

    Elsewhere in the book of Revelation the Watchtower Society says "12 cubits", "12,000 furlongs" and "144 cubits" are not to be taken literally but are figurative. It would make more sense for them to say the 12,000 from each tribe and the total 144,000 is also figurative.
